This ticks all the boxes for a good rope protector: the material your rope is up against is both slipper and very durable, it has an easy attachment method that holds it in place on your rope (if your rope is fixed. You'll need to do something else if your rope is moving, like a toprope), and it attaches securely and easily.There are many different protector designs, and I've had luck with this one. Since it's not life-supporting gear, I see no reason not to go with an off-brand budget option like this one. I've been happy with it, and I think you will be too.

I’ve seen people use carpets and even sown fire hoses to protect their ropes. This is a great option for edge protection. The built-in keeper firmly holds the rope so the device does not move. The Velcro is also incredibly secure.
