The inner folds are stitched to keep the folds always neat. The Himo (tie strings) have extra padding for extra confort and strength. The sides of the Hakama is made a a little longer than the center, in order to give a beautiful straight line, when standing. Very popular among Kendo, Iaido, and Aikido players. Tetron Hakama is very easy to take care compared to the 100% cotton Hakamas. Note: Tetron is composed of 65% Polyester and 35% Rayon. I bought this hoping that the cloth would have been as thick as e-bogu's iaido-gi. Unfortunately, the material is quite thin and it doesn't really retain the shape I was hoping for when I wear it. It's still good enough for practicing budo, but the thin fabric is a bit of a let down.

The underlying product is great, no complaints yet. But it arrives with severe wrinkles. I haven't tried to iron it yet because it's tetron (rayon) and that is very difficult to iron without causing damage.The innermost pleat is wrong, and _not_ a memory pleat. This is very difficult to correct and took me about an hour.The thing could use more starch.My verdict is that the original construction is great, but the finishing press, folding, and handling after that are very bad. This might not be a problem for aikidoka, but iaidoka are basically wearing simplified formal suits and it is necessary that our clothing be immaculate.
