I got these for my son last year in kindergarten. He loved them and it made learning his sight words for class fun.

The students I work with are learning or reviewing various reading skills. After they learned the skill games like this are used. The student are able solidify the skill. Excellent for practice.

This was a fun and interactive way to introduce blends. We went a step further and tried to come up with another word that started with the blend. As a teacher, this would be a great center!

The marketplace for educational games and toys is saturated. Still, as a kindergarten teacher, I seek out new ways to help struggling learners acquire skills, and so I tried these cute phonics onset/rime objects from Kasfalci. Unfortunately, these are not very useful or engaging. The gist is simple - turn the dial to reveal rhyming words across a variety on rimes for short vowel sounds. The hitch is in the ease of use, and to turn these is not easy, at least not for my adult hands. Additionally, there isn't much independence to it, so as far as a useful center or independent work item, it's somewhat lacking. These aren't useless, but in terms of providing a helpful tool for learning, they seem more gimmick than beneficial.

These are great learning tools to add to your child’s learning. We homeschool and doing worksheets and books can get boring, but these added some fun for my little reader. They’re great quality! Very sturdy, not easily bendable and easy to hold in little hands. I know I will be able to use them with my next child. The only downside for us is that the picture being included with the word can sometimes distract my child and she will try to guess the word rather than actually read it. That will obviously not be a problem for everyone, just something to consider. I highly recommend as a fun addition to learn reading.
