This is an "initial impression" review; I just installed the new projector bulb in my Optoma HD26 a few minutes ago. My first comment is: HOLY RUSTED METAL, BATMAN! My projector is not only functional again, it's also brilliantly bright again!Let me back up a second: You don't really think about the brightness of a projector in a home theater. It's usually a dark room when you're watching movies anyway, so it hardly matters how bright the projector is, right? Eh... maybe that's not really true, after all. Over the course of the eight years that my family has been using this projector, I didn't really notice just how much dimmer the original bulb had gotten. It was dim enough at the end of its life (right before it finally burned out, with a very loud POP!) that it was quite necessary to turn off all of the lights in the room to watch a movie.Well, of course I turned on the lights to install the new bulb. After getting everything situated, I turned around and looked at the projection on my wall... and was absolutely floored. 3000 lumens, in all its beautiful glory, once again -- and I hadn't even turned out the lights yet!It may be worth noting that the original bulb was supposedly 3200 lumens. Personally, I wouldn't quibble over those last couple of hundred lumens -- especially when compared to the end-of-life performance of the previous bulb. I can't say scientifically how bright it was at the end, but I would hazard a guess that the original bulb had lost greater than 60 or 70 percent of its brightness, over the years. I'm genuinely looking forward to movie night! It's also noteworthy that at $33 when I purchased it, this bulb was one of the cheapest options available. As things stand right now, I absolutely would recommend this bulb. Very satisfied.
