Frequently Asked Questions About Nomad Diving

  • DOES NOMAD FLOAT?
  • Yes! However, for diving offshore, the included Dry Bag Float is strongly recommended for additional buoyancy and visibility.
  • WHAT IF NOMAD FLIPS OR GOES UNDERWATER?
  • As long as the very top of the intake snorkel remains above the water, you will continue to receive fresh air flow from Nomad. The rest of the unit can be submerged. If water does get inside the pump, no damage will be caused. Simply rinse it through with fresh water.
  • IS NOMAD AIRPLANE FRIENDLY?
  • Absolutely! The lithium battery used is under the limit and accepted by most airlines in carry-on luggage so that you can travel around the world with Nomad. The Nomad inside its backpack will fit as carry-on luggage, or you can check the unit while bringing the battery as carry-on. Be prepared by bringing your Air Travel Certificate
  • DOES THE NOMAD BATTERY LAST LONGER IN SHALLOW WATER?
  • Yes! If you're using Nomad in shallow waters, you can expect longer run times. And you will be able to coil up the excess hose length neatly so that Nomad stays close by. Note that for diving shallower than 10 feet, you can expect similar or longer run times with Nemo.
  • WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN NOMAD DIVING?
  • WARNING: Nomad uses strong magnets. Magnets may interfere with pacemakers or medical implants. It is advised that persons with pacemakers or medical implants do not use Nomad. Persons with pacemakers or medical implants must stay back at least 2 feet from the Nomad main body at all times.

I purchased the Nomad when it was first released. I think I was the first in Hawaii to receive. Since then I have used only a half dozen times as there is always something that is wrong.First, it took forever to get the batteries. Because they are hazardous material. After three or for dives, it was recalled for the compressor so I sent it back in.I received the unit back and dove once with it, before I lost the drip cap…no big deal as it is a $5.00 part. Hold on…plus $52.79 shipping. No way. I visited the booth at DEMA and of course, no parts were available. So after months of looking, I finally made one out of a pvc cap to use.Took it out today, didn’t even get under water and find there is a hole in the hose. It must be shipped to Blu3 for repair. That hose should be made out of something more sturdy like a miflex hose. A friend who has the Nomad also had his hose crack after just a couple dives. He was lucky and it cracked before his recall so Blu3 covered the cost of shipping I am so careful with this, always transport and store in the padded case and the hose cracks. I do love that it is light weight and easily moved, unlike my scuba gear, but I find it unreliable.

The Blue diving system is incredible. It is very easy to use and is amazing for shallow water diving. The entire system is very compact and easy to take around everywhere. It has saved me so much time, energy and effort compared to lugging around a big scuba tanks and dive gear. I use this system for cleaning up plastic and trash and it has changed the game. The entire team at Blue has been great with customer service and they stand behind their product. I highly recommend anyone thinking about getting one of these systems to try them out, you won’t be disappointed.

I own 3 nemos and 1 nomad for shallow diving and cleaning the hull of my boat. The product design is brilliant, so quick and easy to use in comparison to traditional SCUBA and the service is brilliant. Highly recommended

I am not going to go exploring the depths of the Marianas Trench or to explore the Titanic. I mostly do shallow dives in a calm Cove. I’m not interested in going any deeper than 20 feet. I do specimen collecting for a children’s educational aquarium, and I also do metal detecting underwater to find lost items, and return them to the owners. Until I got this nomad, I was restricted to the surface with a snorkel. The Nomad gives me more freedom as far as going deeper and staying deeper to try to catch a small, tropical fish, or to locate a tone on the metal detector. The first dive of the season is to clean trash and plastic out of the cove. It was quite successful, and we scored a nice big basket full of trash. I would not be able to collect as much without this device.I look forward to more use throughout the season. I think I made a good choice.
