About this item

  • Removable tabs
  • Hidden design bolts securely to chassis
  • spreads towing forces equally without undue stress on automobile frame
  • Attaches to Blue Ox motorhome mount tow bar
  • Fits Honda Fit

Choosing Blue Ox is like having a baseplate custom-made for your vehicle. Blue Ox baseplates are easy on your suspension and even easier on the eye. They have been designed with hidden reinforcement. Blue Ox does not offer a one-size-fits-all support system, but rather a system that is shock absorbing and integrated into the individual bumper frame or unibody with the bumper design of your vehicle. Blue Ox's philosophy is to let the baseplate torsion, or flex, similar to receiver hitches allowing the baseplate to absorb the forces of towing rather than rigidly transferring the forces to the frame of the vehicle.

It fits great. Not too bad to install with a friend. It allows me to now tow my car. Thanks

Installed on a Honda Fit. Instructions are OK but could be better. After installing the baseplate, the distance between the bumper mounts changed by a 1/4 inch. This required the holes in the bumper to be elongated before it could be re-installed.

Very well designed baseplate and everything fit as per the instructions. I also found an online installation video helpful. A great Fit for the Honda Fit. You do need to be mechanically inclined though, and you will probably need more time then a professional installer.

I just installed it last night (the night before writing this review). If you are mechanically inclined, the install goes pretty quickly. I started at 4pm, and was done by 7pm with about an hour spent waiting for the drill bit to be retrieved from the store, so it was really closer to 2hrs of working time to get it done. The only difficult part was after I torqued the base plate to my bumper mounts. It widened the bumper mounts a little, so reinstalling the metal bumper support took a little more effort with a pry bar, a jack, and a friend to help. I was nervous that the plastic bumper fascia wouldn't look right on the car when it was reinstalled, but everything looks snug like it should.I picked the Blue Ox, because I didn't want my car to have huge attachment points sticking out of the front, and the Blue Ox means my car still looks like a normal car when it's not being towed.Edit to add:Now that I've towed twice with this setup, it handles like a dream. Connecting the car to tow and disconnecting is SO MUCH easier than using a tow dolly. I had an issue with my auxiliary braking system, but that has nothing to do with the Blue Ox tow bar and base plate... which performed flawlessly. :)Now I just need to get my wiring harness so that the lights on my car function while being towed.

Great product. Very sturdy, easy to operate. Glad I did not buy the lighter aluminum model as the installer indicated that the steel model, although heavier, will last twice as long.

Professional Installer had no complaints, so I assume it fit my 2013 Honda Fit as advertised. LOVE the two removable "Attachment Assembly" (the cylindrical parts the tow bar actually attaches to). A simple pull on the locking mechanism and a 1/4 to 1/2 twist and they detach from Base Plate. Great feature: 1) I don't continue to bruise my shins when walking around my Fit in the garage, 2) Baseplate virtually invisible (OK, not quite, but close) when Honda Fit not being towed and Attachment Assembly removed.

Well, it went pretty well. Instructions a little iffy. Well-made unit, thanks.

The instructions are easy to follow with pictures, It takes about 5 to 6 hours, you will need a good set of tools, drills, and a knowledge of cars.
