Having visited Blue Ox 4 years ago and talking with Doug and Mike and touring the factory in Pender, Nebraska, My rating may be a little bias, however, this is way overkill for what I need. The options are the 2 prong 5000lb base plate or this 10,000lb base plate and there is a HUGE difference.Suggestions: I would suggest that blue ox come up with something in between.... like a 7500lb base plate that could be ordered by folks like me as this 10,000lb one could tow a SEMI Truck with no issue! I am towing a 6,000lb vehicle and would rather be safe than sorry though. I think its rated for a TANK.It is disappointing that there were no Nuts or bolts as stated in the description and I assumed for this price the Tow-bar Pins would be included (as shown in the picture). I'll call up blue ox next week and maybe they can sort Amazon out.

This is crazy over kill for a 10000 pound tow.I would not be surprised if this has a 30000 pound rating.They are massive with massive backing plates.They have two more tangs than most base plates so you can not use the nice quick release pins that come with the tow bar, you have to use these really long pins with the basic wire keeper as seen in the picture.On the other hand if you do need to build a tow bar base plate to pull your Sherman tank this should fit the bill.
