I wanted to love this. It might be suited to applications where sound quality isn't important, but its definitely not high fidelity. I'm not talking about esoteric judgements here, I found it unlistenable through high quality speakers. I usually have a cheap digital amp on these so the comparison isn't with any thing exotic. There are so many inexpensive digital as well as analog amplifier chips, there's no reason it shouldn't sound better. Its possible mine is defective? The distortion is clearly audible regardless of input.Aside from that it has a lot of nice qualities. A lot of different inputs, including front panel mic inputs making it suitable for karaoke. I like that its powered directly without an external power supply, this makes installation much neater. It can also be powered by 12V making it suited to portable use. I didn't try this feature to know how much power drain there is, but it would be great to use for tailgate Karaoke. This would be a 5 star if it weren't audibly distorted.

This is by no means the best quality amplifier you can buy, as audiophile products can go into stratospheric prices. But for about the price of a dinner out, this amplifier is incredible. Not only does it have an amplifier and a preamplifier in it, it has a digital to analog converter in it, as well as analogue inputs. That means you can plug just about anything into it from an old 8-track player, to a music streamer, to your TV. In addition, it's made to handle a microphone input, which can come in handy at gatherings. It did have a few scratches on top from manufacturing. For the price, and they way I intend to use it, I wasn't too bothered by it.It sounds better than you would expect it to for it's price. I hooked up a pair of old (30-years) floor standing speakers that used to be pretty good. They sounded just fine. In my case - it is going to be my garage system. Something to listen to while working on lawn equipment and projects, etc.It comes with a remote control. There is so much you can do with this without having to spend a fortune. An extremely good value for the money. Honestly, I don't know how they can make it for such a low price.

I wanted to downsize from a bulky AV amplifier that was powering audio from my basement computer to something more compact and energy-efficient. That’s why I ordered the BT-398A.This is a Class D amplifier—not “digital,” as some might assume. The "D" simply refers to the next letter in the naming convention when this amplifier type was developed in the 1950s. Class D amplifiers convert analog audio into square waves that vary in frequency and spacing to modulate the signal. This design allows for highly efficient amplification, generating less heat and enabling much smaller form factors. The tradeoff is usually sound quality, which is why Class D amps are often found in applications where audio fidelity isn't critical, like PA systems or car audio.Despite its compact size, the BT-398A is impressively feature-rich for its rated 60 watts. It accepts input through analog RCA, digital Toslink (optical), digital coax (PCM), SD card, USB stick, two 1/4-inch microphone jacks, and Bluetooth. It also includes an FM tuner and comes with a remote control, though all functions can be accessed from the front panel as well.I connected it to my existing speakers and paired it with my computer via Bluetooth. So how does it sound? Honestly, much better than expected. The bass is a bit light, but for everyday computer use, it's more than adequate. Given the small room and moderate volume levels, this amp fits the space perfectly. The FM tuner works decently—it picked up several strong stations, which is impressive considering the setup is in my basement. I imagine it would perform even better in a garage or outdoor setting. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this little amplifier. It’s compact, efficient, and delivers solid performance when needed.

Where prices can often soar into the hundreds and if not thousands this it the little amp that could! At a cost comparable to what I spend at lunch with my wife, I feel that it delivers a remarkable sound for the cost and value. The amplifier also comes with a remote control, adding another layer of convenience to its already impressive functionality. Encompassing both an amplifier and a preamplifier, this robust unit also features a digital-to-analog converter alongside multiple analogue inputs. This versatility means you can effortlessly connect a wide range of devices, from a nostalgic old school tape player, a modern streaming device, a phone, a DVD player, or even just your television. While I personally will never use it for those who might, it even includes the connection to accommodate a microphone input. The sound quality exceeded my expectations for such an affordable product. I connected it to a 15" floor-standing speaker, and at once, this delivered impressive sound, and I was pleasantly surprised by the clarity, bass, and richness produced. I plan to set this up as an audio system in my little shop for rocking out and getting away from the world for a few when turning up some AC/DC or Hank Jr. while I fiddle with various small hobbies and projects. In summary, this amplifier offers an incredible array of features without breaking the bank. It truly represents an outstanding value for the money. Honestly, I’m amazed at the sound quality at this price.
