The install may not be the most fun but the shifter feels premium and solid for the price.

If this review provides the info you need before buying, please consider marking it "Helpful", as that's very helpful for reviewers!Pros:- might be the shortest one piece short shifter on the market for 96-00 Civics. Adjustable types can probably be made to shift shorter, but of this type, I think the B&M is the one with the smallest throw.- easy to install if you have any idea what you're doing, and the included instructions are clear and easily understood if you don't.- comes with everything you need, including grease.- reasonable price more or less. There ARE cheaper alternatives, but I have personally seen cheap short shift rods snap before and would rather stick with a known brand.Cons:- the shift rod itself seems to be shorter than OEM, rather than just changing the location of the pivot. This makes the shifter sit further down and can be harder to reach. With the stock seat in the car, the shifter is a bit far away for my liking, but with the racing bucket seat in, it's not as much of a problem. I'm 5'8" for reference if it may help anyone, and tend to sit pretty far forward.- don't bother with the o-rings on the bushing that goes through the rod in my opinion (or not ALL of them), just get some washers that fit over the bushing in the rod and use those instead, or use ONE o-ring per side with a washer on the outside. It makes it much easier to install, at least on jack stands. With a hoist, or if you remove your exhaust, this is trivial, but on the ground with the car on jack stands, with the exhaust still on the car, trying to get the o-rings to stay in place while you put the bolt through is a nightmare in the limited space you have for your hands, with the exhaust and the shift linkage in the way.

I ordered from a well known American company with experience making shifters and other great products. When it showed it it was very pretty. Felt very sturdy and well made. It started it go down hill once you start to read the instructions and it hardly makes sense. I finally got my head wrapped around it. Not to difficult but the instructions didn’t help. But the hardware hardly fits and causing horrible snake rattle. I thought I installed it wrong or backwards.... nope lots of people had the same problem. Just a quick google search would have saved me the frustration. I don’t mind paying more for higher quality. Thankfully there are products from other manufacturers that still look to innovate the simple shifter even for Honda’s in 2019, I gotta say I’m a bit excited. Only problem is what do I do with this now? It’s pretty, I give it that. Maybe I can make it conversation piece. Kinda like garage art. I certainly couldn’t sell it. There is too many people and I guess company’s that’s would risk there name for a quick buck. Not me. I tried to contact the company via there website to see if I can get new hardware or ask for advice. But honestly it’s a nightmare contacting them and there response was just add more grease. But.. check out the attachment images... just poor design. O rings as spacers that are too tight and hardware that’s too loose. Sorry I really wanted to like this product. B&m you owe me afternoon back.

this is very high quality. I will warn that I got this for a civic thinking the dual bend would be closer to stock but the dual bend is really for the integra, the civic had a single bend originally and should probably go with one. That said, it's very close and I intend to leave it.

Overall this short throw is really nice, good construction (doesn't feel cheap like the "JDM" branded crap you see on this site or ebay) Does what it's supposed to. Shifts from gear to gear smoothly and has a good feel to it.The only thing I don't like about it is the amount of play it has when in gear, to the point where I have a hard time telling if I'm in neutral or in gear by feel and I have to actually look and verify.Save for this one small issue, it does the job and at a pretty good price point for the quality you get.

Super short shifter. Works great in my 2000 Civic Si. Unfortunately B&M short shifter are prone to a terrible and annoying rattle at the bottom where the linkage attaches. This terrible design allows too much play between the shaft and cylinder. If you don't use proper sized O-rings, the vibration from the engine and transmission will cause and extreme rattling noise felt through the shift knob. I should've gone with Skunk short shifter.

I Bought this item for my 00 Honda Civic all I can say is it sure as heck beats the cheesy Stock shifter. very short throw and shifts like a dream. Beyond happy with product thus far. I bought mine through Amazon warehouse deals. Item was in like new condition.. everythig was in package nothing missing nor damged. Install was pretty simple. lots of small pices though. overall very happy thank you B&M.

Fairly easy to install. Shortens shift throw. Heavy compared to oem but feels strong. Not a huge fan of the silicone o-ring design but for the price can't complain. I'll update review if I run into problems.

I bought this for my EJ8 (D16Y8+S40 5 Speed manual Trans) as a big weekend project.I Installed this very easily. The only issues I encountered were rusted and deformed bolts and nuts in the Shift exchanger. Be prepared for that because otherwise you will be scrambling for a solution and unable to drive anywhere to get the needed nuts and bolts. If you are buying this then I highly suggest you also Buy the compatible Energy Suspension Shift Linkage bushings since as you install this you will also be around these same components. I replaced the old bushings in my shift linkage while installing this short shifter and in doing so I found my Rear Change extension bushing was broken and someone had improvised with a piece of Rubber hose. EPIC KLUDGE. Shifts perfectly fine and VERY SHORT.
