Designed to be replacement for the original D5500 camera battery, form, fit, and function same as original, but in Black plastic housing. Works with the original Nikon charger.

I was actually shocked to find a backup battery for my Nikon D3500 for less $20. But I ordered this one and it works well in my camera, charges fast, seems to be durable and is a welcome addition to my kit. Not sure how many shots it will provide or how long it will last when transferring photos to my using snap bridge. When I figure that out I will come back to update.

I wanted a spare battery for my Nikon's (D3200 and D5100) and these work very well. I have other BM's as well as the Nikon ones. They aren't quite as good as the originals but at the same time, they didn't cost as much either :-) Where I've noticed the difference, is when I am working in low light with either camera or if I'm in Live View for extended sessions. I get roughly 1/3 fewer shots, give or take. When shooting in the studio with Live View plus radio triggers (strobes or remote flash), I normally will get about 50 to 60 shots before the indicator shows red - last bar. I generally swap out at that point. I can get about 90 from my Nikon ones. In bright sunlight or the more general stuff, I find them very close.

Plain and simple this is an exact equivalent to the EN-EL 14 battery with the Nikon name on it. I have both and frankly they charge to the same power, at the same charge rate, and last the same general amount of time before needing a recharge. The Nikon branded one is $41 around here at the cheapest ($48 at Amazon as I write this). I hope I don't burst anybody's bubble by telling you this - Nikon doesn't have a battery factory, their batteries are made for them in a number of factories who may very well also make this one. It doesn't really matter who made it though, if it is the equivalent when you put it into the camera. I use it in a Nikon D3200 which I use daily to shoot an average of about 12-20 shots, mostly telephoto zooms which suck power. I rarely use the live view (another giant power sponge), but do occasionally and also rarely but sometimes shoot video. I typically have to charge-up either this or the Nikon-titled one about every 10 days to two weeks. Your results may differ depending on ambient temperature and whether you auto or manually focus and a number of other issues and personal photography habits. It fully recharges with the Nikon quick recharger that comes with all new Nikon cameras in less than half an hour. I can't realistically give any reasons not to buy at least one of these - and incidentally, I've dealt with Big Mike's on other occasions (when I ordered this I didn't even notice who was fulfilling my Amazon purchase), and when I have had issues (minor), they fixed themj ASAP/stat and always threw a few "sorry about that" extras in, to boot. Again, buy one if you don't have at least 2 batteries for your camera, and remember Dr. Hamfat's Law - "A spare battery is useless if it isn't fully charged and handy when the red light starts blinking..."

Product was delivered very promptly and worked fine out of the box. The lens cloth and screen protector made for a nice bonus. However, having said that, of two batteries purchased in December 2014, one has already failed after about 7 months of use (Nikon Charger does not want to charge it anymore).I will look to a different manufacturer for a replacement.

good to have a battery that has 50% more juice than your regular one.It remains to be seen if the life expectancy will match the original Nikon batteries.Service was prompt and I'm a happy customer

This battery used in the P7700 sometimes does not turn on the camera. After charging, press the button and does not power on. Unsure if random defect, but if it does turn on (eventually), this would happen after pressing the button several times, removing then reinserting the battery, and trying again. If this still does not work, blow on the connectors (remember this technique on NES cartridges?), and reinsert the battery. It should turn on. After this, you are good to go--until the battery needs recharged, and you may miss some photography opportunities, unless you have another spare that works right away, not act 'dead.' When I ordered mine, bought two of these. One works fine as does the supplied Nikon brand, but the other has the problem as described in this review. Its life and performance is about as good. That said, when it works, good as the original. Due to this problem, I have to dock two stars. Otherwise, if the one you receive does not have the defect, five stars. Therefore, this product could be four stars because it appears that mine might be of a defective connector. To be on the safe side, purchase the genuine battery, not a third-party (for example, it has been known that Panasonic does this with some of their cameras so that third-party batteries do not work.) (Caveat emptor.)

UPDATE: I spoke with Big Mike's and it turns out the battery that I received was a defective one, and they are getting rid of all the ones from the batch of them that are defective(their manufacturer messed up), but Big Mike's was totally awesome. They were EXTREMELY helpful and kind. They are sending me a replacement battery they say will be guaranteed to work. I am very happy with this seller. And I hope to be able to use them for other purchases in the future!Original Review: I read the reviews, the good and the bad. I decided after reading a few reviews that I would get this battery from Big Mike's Electronics, and since it says it is a replacement for the EN-EL14 Nikon battery. Well I needed this battery by today, great shipping, got it in no time. Unfortunately, when I put it in my camera and turn it on, it does not work. I am going to return it and see if I can find a proper replacement. On the up side though, the cleaning cloth and screen protectors were a very nice addition.
