Don't get shafted by dealer ! Even though you didn't order your motor with charging system option ! It's still installed by manufacturer . Just this parts is left out ! Dealers can be Evel . I tapped and existing hole on a bracket to mount. Been using all summer to keep a batt in the bow of my 14 footer charged for my fish sonar . Btw it puts out full amps at idle .

I have an 8hp yamaha that this is listed to fit. The leads were too short to fit my motor. I ended up cutting the leads off my old regulator as long as i could and soldered them to this one. Installed fine after this and puts out 13v at idle, 14.5v at higher rpm's. Seems to work good.**Edit** dropped the rating to 2 stars. I hardly ever use the 8hp Yamaha. Started it last summer (2023) to ensure it ran, but never used the boat. Started the 8hp this summer and actually went fishing. The 8hp isn't producing power again. Carried out all of the tests, regulator is fried. This thing has less then 2 hours run time on it.

I was hesitant...But the fast shipping and good performance of this little guy saved my Puget Sound sailing trip. Has been operating on a Yamaha T8 for almost 37 hours of use and works great. The quality seemed solid and the connections were good and secure.

Works great on my 2000 Yamaha 15hp. (Model # F15MLHY). Just hook up the two green wires, give it a ground and Bam, I'm now charging my battery at around 6 amps slightly throttled up....guess maybe 10 amps at full running speed. Way cheaper than the $100+ through Yamaha.
