While usable, it has a bad design flaw. It is usable for a short while before it breaks, the flaw leads to having no place to grip but by the valve when turning onto a can of refrigerant. And it requires some strength to screw the can well enough to stop the leak from the connection point. And the valve stem is made from bronze and will break. Wish the body of this item had a bolt head kind of pattern, so one could use a wrench to close it onto a can of refrigerant.

This item works great and it's very easy to use. The built quality is good also.

Had bought a tap with the moving stem for the self-sealing cans as well as getting one with my manifold gauge kit (the Xtreme Power one with the vac pump). Using both valves I was able to get a grand total of one can to work. Got 3 cans online. Just the one worked. Thought it was a can issue. Bought 2 at auto parts store. Neither worked. Brought them back a guy at store was nice enough to let me try to tap the other cans on the shelf. Tried a dozen and none worked. Found this and the concept was solid. Bought 2 just in case. First one worked on all three can. Does it leak when screwing it in? Yep. Just get fast with it. Take into account the small loss when measuring how much you put in. Also, mine came with what appears to be an anodized aluminum handle. Could just be paint but I didn't break the handle and I have an uncanny ability to break stuff. Do yourself a favor and just get this because it works. Leaks screwing it in but it WORKS

This valve seems to flow better when recharging vehicle ac systems, iv purchased new gauges because ac wouldn’t fill correctly, it was the can valve that was bad, this new valve has better flow control

Unlike some others I tried, this valve body seals to the can effectively and the valve itself seals correctly. This one was worth the money.

Knob could be stronger or made out of different material.

This item is made of Aluminum and is very well made. I think its the best of it's kind. This is for the new cans that have the "self sealing" design. Do not use this one on the older "self piercing" cans. The new "self sealing" cans have a hole with a valve on the top of the can. Make sure you get the "gold" colored one, its 1/2-16 acme. There is another "white" colored one that is 7/16 and is not the correct one. Finally in the old days you can install the dispenser valve on the can without having gloves on. Now you need to have gloves on (and safety glasses) before you start the job. The reason being the way the valve on the can works, it will start leaking out gas as you start screwing in the dispenser. This is not a flaw in the dispenser but part of the design of the new cans. In the old days, you screw in the dispenser and you then "pierce" the can, so you had no leaks when screwing the dispenser on the can.
