the saddle is not square but has the same shape as a steel string guitar one, with compensation for some strings.If it was square, it would be perfect as someone buying this type of item would know exactly how to shape it to compensate for intonation. being pre shaped, you have no room for adjustments.But yes, it's real bone.

Just the right size to upgrade the plastic nut and saddle on my ancient soprano uke. The nut was a tad taller than I like, but a sheet of 400 grit sandpaper on a piece of float glass came in handy to easily and evenly decrease the height. Likewise the saddle was a tad too tall and easily adjusted using sandpaper. After the upgrade, my uke sounds better and louder than when new.Quite inexpensive. Why didn't I do this earlier?
