This has a weak vacuum pump that doesn't provide the best air removal. The sealing element is far too narrow/thin to provide a confident seal. DOES NOT SEAL THICKER MYLAR BAGS!!! Even after attempting to seal 10 mill thick mylar bags 4 times back to back in the same exact spot, this never would completely seal even one bag. Lastly, if you're trying to use zipper seal bags, the vacuum portion of this product sits too far from the sealing element causing you to seal BELOW the plastic zipper of the releasable bag. Personally, I do not recommend this product for anyone not wanting a headache.

Just started using mine on Easter for homemade dog food. Also have one cat on special food that keeps getting stale so sealed in smaller portions to keep fresh.

******I started a return on this item and ordered the same unit again, thinking it was likely just a mistake. The new one came and the unit responded the same when I plugged it in. The instructions for use are poor. A sticker on the front of the unit has several words that make no sense. In order to use the device, you must close the unit by pressing on the lower corners of the lid on each side until it clicks. At that point, the unit is ready. Pretty simple if it was in the instructions. I happened to discovered it by happenstance. Now the unit works fine. I had a neighbor use this vacuum sealer, and they liked it as well. I cancelled the return, and sold them my "defective" one. We are both happy with this vacuum sealer.******The sealer was unpacked and set up. When it was plugged in, all lights continually flashed. I called customer service to rectify, and they told me to return it to Amazon, as they were unable to provide any help. Box appeared to have been resealed by the shipper. The tape marks made it obvious. So this was probably a returned item that was reshipped without testing.
