From the Manufacturer

This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like new conditions. Some tools may contain cosmetic blemishes. Bosch recently introduced routers that they claim have the highest power-to-weight ratio in the industry. We believe them. The 1617EVSB variable-speed router features a stout, 2-1/4-horsepower motor coupled with an aluminum base and housing. The result is a well-balanced and smooth-operating machine that offers fast results in demanding applications. We love the nicely finished hard-maple handles that make this router feel like a fine-woodworking tool. Something Bosch engineers are proudest of is what they call the "precision centering system," which makes the router bit track at true center. It's an important feature for multiple-pass applications, like jig cutting, and fine woodworkers will particularly appreciate it. Ease of height adjustment is a way of measuring quality in routers, and Bosch has come up with a system that works as well as any we've tested. A large flip lever releases the motor for adjusting. Rather than twisting as the height changes, the motor raises and drops in a straight path. The result is a simple and smooth-working course adjust that couples with an efficient microadjust to make fine-tuning the depth of cut easy and accurate. Another feature we like is the reversible motor, which lets the user place the switch and cord on either side. It's good for lefties, and for those of us who get annoyed when the cord always seems to be in the way. The collet is self-releasing, which means there's no need to tap the spindle to change bits, and the collet depth is 13/16 inch, a few 16ths deeper than that of DeWalt or Porter-Cable--one more weapon in the Bosch battle to for a truly centered bit.

It looks and runs like new. Granted, it doesn’t come with the normal router accessories, other than a wrench, but for a router table…it’s great and a great value.

I mounted it in a router table. The E clip on the adjusting shaft slipped out of place allowing the router to drop down. I am sure it works well as a hand held but not the best in a router table.

Needed to replace my 30 yr old router because it just didn’t have the power I needed for some woodworking projects. I did my research and based on everything I read this Bosch router marked all the squares. I ordered a renewed router and saved $70. That allowed me to get the router table lift. I carefully inspected this renewed product and found little, if any, marks or wear on it.already attached to my Kreg router table and have run about 30 board feet through it to bullnose some new shelves. WOW!!!!! POWER AND PRECISION. It is very different from my old Craftsman router but I really love the ability for the router body to completely detach from the base so you can attach to a table or a plunge base. Definitely ordering the plunge base soon. Having the 1/2” shank bit in place gave it a lot of power to chew through the wood. This definitely gave me plenty of power and fits well into my future furniture plans.

As a refurbished product, it might be ok. However, the seller includes the plunge base in the images shown in the description. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE PLUNGE BASE. I am disappointed that they posted an image of something not included.

This is a wonderful, variable speed and quite powerful router. If you are using my hand, it can be a bit much after a while, and there are smaller routers for delicate work. However, Bosch is very good, and this one is going to my table, so I can leave the other one in the two hand routers bases (including plunger). You can spend a small fortune in tips for your router, but routers can make many wood assembly projects so much easier and better.

Router delivered quickly and works perfectly, but I can't credit the packaging for that. It is just a tough beast. No padding protection, and box was heavily damaged. Somehow the product remained unharmed.Aside from that very pleased! Manuals, tools, and essential accessories were included, and the router was delivered very quickly. Looks as close to new as can be. Would have been 5 star rating if just a little more attention had been given to shipping care.

I have used Makita routers for years. The only reason I purchased this is because it had a 3/8" collet available and Makita did not. I am using it in a machine I built for a special operation, so am not even using the base that came with it, however I was so impressed with how smooth and easy the base was to use and adjust that I decided when I buy another router I will get this one. The cherry handles are very nice! I purchased this as a refurbished one to save a few dollars and could hardly tell it wasn't brand new. So far it has worked flawlessly with fairly heavy use. I would say it is built a bit better than the Makitas I am so familiar with. Time will tell.
