Critical electrical connections feature rigid welded construction to ensure reliability and durability, even in the hottest conditions, versus soldered connections. NOTE: Always ensure battery is fully charged before installing a new alternator. Alternators are engineered to keep batteries topped off, not to fully charge a dead battery. Using a new alternator to charge a dead battery can damage internal components, shortening the life of the alternator.

You have to use the 2.5" inch gray/greenplastic positive connector from the old alternator, this new one does not come with that extension to connect the big red wire. However the old connector extension is not directly transferable. It does not fit as is onto the new Bosch alternator. I had to do this to use it:'P1. Carefully cut the two little red plastic "wings" off the top of the red plastic part of the connector at the rear of the new alternator. Just cut off the little wings with a Dremel or vibrating tool and leave the surface flat around the protruding small bolt.2. Then, remove the old connector from the old alternator and carefully cut off the BOTTOM part (about 3/16") of the flange which fits onto the red plastic part around the bolt at the rear of the alternator. What you should have is a connector that fits right onto where you removed the two red plastic "wings."3. Using your old hardware nut, bolt the modified old connector in the correct orientation to the bolt coming up from the new red connector. Make sure it's tight so it stays in the proper orientation. But don't break anything!4. Now your new alternator has the connector sticking out of the back just like the old one did and you can install it like the old one was installed!5. You have 2 plastic snap caps left. One snaps on the back over the bolt-on plastic connector; the other at rhe end of the extension where the big red wire connects.

When my 2nd rebuilt alternator started sending AC ripples through the truck's electrical system I decided to forego the lifetime warranty of the failed alternator and buy this Bosch. No regrets. Easy install and reliable performance - and no AC ripples when tested. AC Ripples can wreak havoc with electrical components - and can burn some modules out. Before I learned about AC ripples my only alternator pass/fail decision was whether it charged batteries properly....

Bought this alternator 10 months ago for a 2003 Ford Ranger 4.0 litre engine. Worked great for the first 10 months. Then I started to see the voltage fluctuating and then no voltage output. After a week of testing and watching it, it seems that when the engine was cool the alternator worked fine. After 15 minutes of driving and the engine was hot the alternator would stop working until the engine once again cooled down. Advised Amazon and they refunded the purchase price and paid for the alternators return. Bought another alternator of Amazon (different make) and everything is working again. I think the Alternator had a fault in it somewhere and I would not hesitate to give it a second chance.

Exact fit and top quality. At a price that was easy to take in. This alternator has been installed in my Mazda B4000 pick-up along with an XS BATTERY for the most dominate power source.

Bosch makes excellent quality. Ford used this alternator on many vehicles and engines. I used it on a 7.3 powerstroke which requires an 8 rib pulley, this comes with a 6 due to that being the most common size. The motorcraft pulley was cheap here on Amazon. Good idea to replace the tensioner and idler pulley and the belt, I used gates for all 3. Voltage on the truck fluctuates very very little now.

Seems like a quality product, and it should be. Before you throw your old alternator away make sure the pulley is correct. Supposedly this fits my truck, which is a 1995 F250 Power Stroke. Fits fine, had to reuse my original pulley. Way less expensive than the chain auto parts store for the same alternator. Not sure why I keep seeing reviews for a starter on here.

I installed this alternator on my 2000 Ford Explorer with the 4.0 OHV engine, Vin X. It's the same size as the factory 130 amp alternator and it also uses the exact same bolt on points, and has the same size pulley. It's a simple job to do and it should only take 20 minutes to complete, if it's your first time performing it.The 18 year old, factory alternator on my truck still charged the battery and passed when tested, but it wasn't providing all 130 amps due to its age. My battery meter would only reach 1/3 of the way on the gauge when I had the ac on as well as other accessories, such as the radio and my DRLs. This alternator brings the battery gauge to the 1/2 mark where it should be and it stays there across all rpms. I installed it during the worse month in Florida, which is august. We have temperatures in the 90's with 80% humidity, so it will be quite the test for this alternator. I'll update this review accordingly.Update: More than a year later and the alternator is still running great. It puts out 14.46 volts with no accessories on, and 14.45 volts with all accessories on such as headlights and radio. I’m also updating to include that the pulley was indeed a different size than the stock pulley. It was 2mm smaller and was causing slight overcharging. I swapped over the original pulley and haven’t had any issues since.

This is a 130A alternator and is a direct drop-in replacement for the original 95A alternator in my 1993 F-150 5.0L 4WD. I don't believe that year F-150 came with the 130A alternator, but it was an option on the same year 5.0L E150 vans. In any event, this fit perfectly since the case, mounting holes and connectors are all identical. It works great and the voltage no longer drops at idle, even with all lights on, A/C fan on high, etc. This is a nice replacement for a 130A alternator, and definitely worth the upgrade if you have a 95A alternator.
