Wood Moisture Meter UniversalHumid
The Bosch UniversalHumid moisture meter allows measuring the moisture content of different types of wood, in order to ensure that the wood is ready to be used, whether for fire, for housework, or for constructing diverse wood furniture. Measurement is simple by just sticking the two measurement pins 4-5 mm into the wood. Before use, it is possible to select between two different wood groups for more precise results. A sticker with common wood types for each group in 12 different languages can be attached to the tool for fast adjustment of the correct wood group. In case of any uncertainties about the wood type, it is recommended to use group A in order to indicate a higher value. The practical self-test provides clear information on the calibration status, ensuring correct measurement results. The UniversalHumid uses traffic light LED for easy interpretation of the measurement results: red light – not recommended to use, yellow – of concern, and green – ready to use. An intuitive design with only 2 buttons provides comfortable handling and accuracy. The Hold function enables saving up to two values, in order to compare it with the current one. During measurement, the magnetic cap can be easily attached on the back.

Simple to use, just select the wood group and insert the pins. Includes stickers with wood species to pick the correct wood group. Includes a calibration method to determine it's still measuring correctly, that's a good peace of mind.When you jam the probes in deep and then remove it the battery cover slides off, that's sort of annoying, just need to grip it tight. I bought it strictly for measuring moisture of lumber that I cut on my sawmill and so far the readings are consistent.

works well for my projects, is a necessity in milling rough lumber to furniture build. my wood boiler needs 20% and less moisture for a clean burn and a clean flue liner.

Superenkel användning, undvik bara att kolla om spetsarna är vassa, det är dom!Hade lite udda virke (plommonträ) som torkat i 6 mån. Var osäker om virket behövde torka ytterligare, denna pryl gav svaret!

It's impossible to vouch for the accuracy unless you have a known accurate device to measure against. However, the protective cap has a built-in calibration tool. When you use the probes to measure across the tool you will be told if the reading is within calibration. This is much better than the "self calibration" advertised on most meters in this price range. The dual settings for two wood groups helps ensure more accuracy.The unit feels robust, not cheap. The ergonomic shape is much better than the majority of units I've seen for pushing the probes into dense wood. Readings are simple and fast. The last three readings are recorded on the LED screen for quick comparison. Overall, I feel I made the best choice for a reasonably accurate and robust meter with good features at this price point.

I use this to gauge the moisture content of my wood that is used in my offset smoker. It really works to identify wood that is too wet so you don’t kill your fire/ coal bed with wood that is hard to ignite.

Util herramienta para saber cuan seca esta la leña para saber si quemará bien, pero...para tener una buena referencia o valor habras de cortar el tronco para poder medir esa humedad en el interior, ya que la parte exterior del tronco siempre tiene menos humedad

We installed a new woodstove in our home this month and the wood needs to be less than 20% moisture. I looked at dozens of moisture meters and was wholly unimpressed until I came across this Bosch branded one. I was a bit hesitant to order since it was coming from the UK but it arrived a WEEK before it was scheduled to.As for the meter itself, it is extremely well built and is not slippery in the hand. It appears to give accurate readings (we don't have another meter to test alongside with it but we know how long much of our wood has been seasoned to give us a general idea). The prongs are very solid and sharp and pierce any wood we have tried very easily (and they can be replaced if needed though I don't know where one would source them). The cap that covers the pins has a magnetic side that slides onto the back perfectly when in use. There are lights (red, yellow, green) that light up telling you if the wood is dry enough in addition to an LCD screen (that is very easy to read) stating the actual moisture content.Overall this is a very reliable and well built device that I would recommend.The only 'flaw' is that even when the device is turned off it drains the batteries. After having gone through two sets in a couple weeks (and only using the meter less than an hour in total) we now take the batteries out when we are done measuring logs and store them in the box with the meter.
