The RA1172AT Dust Extraction Hood Kit includes all items necessary to for use with 1617 and 1618 series fixed-base routers. It includes a dust extraction hood for use on flat surfaces, as well as a hood for edgeforming. Also included is a vacuum adapter for connection to 1-1/4-inch, 1-1/2-inch and 35mm hoses. Tool-free mounting hardware is also included for each hood.

I bought this for a bench dog installation. Everyone who has a router knows the dust port on the fence above the bit doesn't really catch much dust but this one has lots of issues. 1. The part for a bench use comes straight out. This aims the port directly at structure in bench dog. I had to cut it down and glue a ninety degree adapter just to connect. As anyone who fights dust knows sharp turns decrease efficiency. 2. The kit doesn't seal the base. There are holes for other stuff open and the plastic window for the other side of the base is sloppy fit. So in my table with vacuum running I still get a pile of dust on floor. There are after market plastic printed kits that address all these issues in 4" or 2.5" ports...which is other problem the port on this kit is a 1 1/4"...basically house vacuum size. Look up dust on Bosch router online and you'll find videos explaining the kits sold aftermarket. This one requires lots of work to make it right.

Especially when working in a closed area, works very well in most applications. My only complaint is that it dors not come as a standard with the router.

Typical to router dust collection, how effective is based on the type of cut. The adapter fits decent but could be better. Only complaint is the long thumb screws used to attach to the base are too tight making it a bit of a pain when attaching under router table.

This dust collection port and bracket is the perfect addition to the Bosch router and table. With this hooked up in place along with the “ thru the fence” saw dust pickup, the work table is nearly dustless! This is a real benefit while making multiple passes. I highly recommend this pickup for your router!

Trabajar con un router implica siempre mucho polvo por todos lados, y un gran riesgo para la salud, estos adaptadores trabajan muy bien para la base fija. En realidad son dos; uno para aspirar al momento de hacer rebajes en cantos y otro para ranurados generales, en lo personal cuento con un taller cerrado por lo cual reduzco en un 80% el polvo que limpiar e inhalar.

It was unclear from the reviews and description that this is missing one piece to support the plunge base. There is another kit--RA1173AT--that has the additional plunge base piece as well. Biggest frustration is that Bosch customer service was very unhelpful. Now I'm stuck having to consider buying both kits since I've already use this one for the fixed base. For the fixed base this collects the majority of dust though.
