The 1 7/8" wick does indeed fit my lamp, but it's pretty light and thin and other sources will sell you 5 or even 10 of these for the same price.

rarely leave bad reviews, but this wick didn't function well. First, was a bit wider than 2 1/2 in, had to cut it down to fit in my Kosmos style burner. (original wick was 2 1/2 in wide). Second, wick smoked excessively, even at low flame. Would assume it is the wick, because original one did not, used same fuel, and reinserted original wick with no smoke. Would return if I could, but obviously used, altered, and oil soaked.

If you have a #8 Kosmos lamp then this is the wick for your lamp. It's a wick that by look and feel has quality woven right into it and not a cheap spin off like aftermarket products tend to be like. Matches the wick that came with my lamp and when this one is needed I know already it's going to work.
