I don't know of anyone who forces a well head into the ground using a PVC pipe. Get something metal if that's your plan. For every shallow well I have installed, I either used an Auger borer or post-hole digger to make the hole that the PVC would then be placed in. There were no well-head tips back then so we plugged the endpoint and grooved (cut slits) on our own PVC. This way is easier.

I don't know why they put a point on this because it can't be driven. I took 2 swings with a sledgehammer with a driving cap attached to this and the thing shattered in 3 places. I drove a SCH40 4" PVC Pipe with no head 4 feet using the same method I and then had to use water/pressure washer to get this thing in.

Purchased in 5' sections, then cut down and placed in a horizontal manifold. Now covered by about 18" of Lake Erie sand. So far, very effective, more open flow area that traditional sand points which tend to clog over time with clay or sand. These may be easier to clean.Update: After three months of use, no sand getting through, free flow of water, working perfectly.
