A: Absolutely, if done right. Slots aid in clearing debris from the friction surface, though slots that don't extend to the rotor's edge can trap debris. Manufacturers not slotting all the way to the edge often opt for cheaper metals to avoid cracking.
Q: Why don't you use zinc-plated brake rotors?
A: We avoid zinc plating for several reasons:
- Zinc plating occurs post-manufacture, potentially causing thickness variation.
- Zinc plating's longevity is limited, and most wheel cleaners remove it. Caution advised for zinc-plated rotors.
- Zinc plating may deposit in friction material, leading to braking issues like vibration or fade.
