These tracks are perfectly compatible with the other Thomas Wooden Train tracks I have already. The tracks are wooden and are flat - no warping as I have seen in some others. My grandsons (and I) really like to build complex trackage and these pieces are a great addition.

I'm new to the world of trains and train sets. I have quickly learned that to have a cool train track layout you need many of these switches. My son is only a year and a half but he's already very interested in his train set. We started with the Brio toddler set (with the rainbow bridge). I highly recommend the toddler set and this switching track to get you started. We only have one set of switching track for now but we will likely get more as my son gets older. Also I have noticed the quality of this Brio track is much better than other brands we've tried. I'd rather pay a few extra dollars now to have a quality item since likely my son will play with this for years to come.

A little issue with the male end of the track being just a little tight fitting into the straight track

We have several of these pieces. They are high quality, typical for the Brio name. They have stood up to many many years of playing by my three children and their friends. The one negative point is that you can not control which way a battery operated train will chose to go on this track piece. There are others that you can control with a small switch which way the train goes. We enjoy those and use those more often than these. However, these are less expensive and still add to the fun of building a train.
