My Broil King roaster was defective. To their credit, the company replaced it. Used as a cloche, the roaster makes fine, pullman loaves, large and luscious. Should work for baguettes as well. And the item will last for a lifetime with proper care.

Great for making sourdough baguettes. Wish the lid had a knob but no biggie. I tried a magnet knob, but was too difficult to remove each time.

Best loaf Dutch oven on the market hands down and it's not even advertised for bread baking. Broil King you guys need better social media promoters seriously. There is a massive amount of people out here that would likely seek a product like this if they knew it existed. It took me weeks of searching online to find a adequate sized loaf cast Iron Dutch oven. I couldn't find anything. Then out of no where I found this product on homedepots website. Idk why but I couldn't find this on Amazon for a very long time. Either way I have since found it and bought it. It's a awesome product. Going to be using this alot more in the future.

The roaster is heavy - Star. When you place the lid on the base it seals so heat doesn’t escape - Star. The cooker holds 3 racks of ribs comfortably, 4 in a squeeze - Star. It comes with a rack so the ribs don’t sit in the grease they release - Star. It’s easy to clean (put a small amount of water at the bottom so nothing sticks) - Star. Performance: another Star. Too bad I can’t give it 6 stars! Oh, and it’s great for whole Pork Loins! Star number 7!

Works incredibly well, heavy but worth the $100. Only use it on ribs so far, but looking to expand its use

Nicht gerade billig & leicht, aber groß für 6 Racks. Ergebnis war super. Würde ich wieder kaufen.

If you're looking for the ideal sized, covered cast iron roaster for baking oval shaped loaves, this is it! I bake 500 gram batons using this in combination with a 14" banneton. This, heavy baking dish is a full 16" long inside, and bakes beautiful loaves. And the included stainless steel rack makes a good cooling rack. I would have given this five stars, but the one annoying and occasionally painful design flaw is that the tiny tabs on ends of the top make it difficult to quickly remove the top when it's in the oven.I seriously doubt I'll ever use this on my outdoor grill, but I use it every week for baking batons or baguettes.

I bought the Broil King Cast Iron Rib Roaster specifically for making sourdough bread. Boy, does it work really well! I lined it with parchment paper, so there was no clean up, per say. As you can see, the loaf came out perfectly! It's a really good alternative to those pricey, enameled, "great chef's prefer!" loaf pans. The only downside that I can think of is, there isn't a great lip or handle for removing the lid during the last 10 minutes of bake time, when it's screaming hot. You just have to be careful and make sure you have a good grip on the little bit of lip on the ends, and are close to where you want to drop the lid. Also, It's cast iron so, IT'S HEAVY. All in all, a very good product for its unintended use! I've already recommended it to my baking friends!

Like a lot of others, I got this to get into the sourdough baking game. I didn't want a standard dutch oven, because I wanted to bake longer loaves to get more consistently sized slices. I have to say that this thing has brought a lot of joy into our lives; over the past two months since I got it, I've baked more than a dozen loaves, each loaf better than the last - we've become quite a bakery to the delight of our family members. Since the loaf is long, sometimes I just divide it in two after baking - saving half for ourselves and half to give away. I would recommend you get a 13-14 inch oval banneton for proofing/shaping. I had trouble finding anything longer than that which would also be deep enough for it the dough to proof properly, but 14in is adequate since it does also expand a bit while baking. While the lower tub portion is preheating, I transfer the cold-proofed dough out of the banneton into the lid portion lined with parchment paper, which is deep enough to hold the dough while I dust off extra flour and score it. Then I just lift the dough by grabbing the ends of the baking sheet and transferring it into the tub, close the lid, and stick it in the oven. I take off the lid 20 minutes into the bake - you do have to be careful when you do this, since both the top and the bottom is piping hot iron - but you figure out a method to do all this after working with it a few times.
