This is sold as a "meat and bone" saw, and it would definitely work well for that, especially with the one-handed design compared to a regular reciprocating saw style. This frees up a hand to keep your work in place. This kit includes 3 designated "bone sawing" blades, and I'm sure they would work well for this. The blade mount appears identical to a regular recipro-saw though, so finding suitable replacements shouldn't be too difficult? The saw I received will run on Makita/compatible batteries. The saw currently offered does not state this and the color has changed. Hard to say if the saw is any different or not. The battery pictured still LOOKS like a Makita-style.The saw works quite well. While this wouldn't lend itself well to big construction-type projects, it would work well for smaller-scale cutting. If you do intend to use this for butchering, of course you wouldn't want to dirty it up with other non-edible debris, so having separate devoted blades and a storage case will help with this. There's nothing much that makes this specifically a "meat and bone" saw besides labeling, but that is a purpose it should serve quite well and I would definitely recommend it for that.

First use was fine. In second use it keeps on dying even after being charged. Every 30 seconds I have to plug it back in. This is a very much waste of my money. I will return it if I do not get customer support.

Parts are missing on delivery, then you get the run around on returning. Do not buy.

I love this saw for butchering. I raise and harvest pigs and sheep and in the past I have been forced to use my woodworking reciprocating saw to cut through bones and tough cartilage. That worked fine, but it often felt like I was trying to carve a toothpick with a chainsaw. The tool just didn’t really allow the finesse or fine manipulation that I wanted to have. This saw, being more compact, but still plenty powerful, works so much better. I can focus on hitting the joint or seam that I’m trying to cut, rather than just getting in the ballpark. It is great for cutting pork chops and lamb chops, both in terms of getting between the ribs and being able to cut off the chine bones. My chops look like they came from the butcher, rather than looking like I butchered them. The blades are sharp and strong, with minimal flex and that helps a lot. Mostly, however, I think it is the fact that my hand is so much closer to the work that allows me to feel like I have more control over the process. When I am doing a large animal like a pig I try to do it in segments, shoulders, then ribs/belly, then hindquarters. The battery lasted long enough that I never had to stop mid stream to wait for it to recharge. And by the time I was rested and ready to start on the next section the battery was generally recharged. The saw is easy to use and reasonably priced. If you do any butchering this saw is definitely worth the small investment.

IMO this is simply a rechargeable battery powered reciprocating saw which is being re-marketed to another target market. The box it comes in is titled "Bone Cutting Machine", while the enclosed instruction booklet is titled "Charging Reciprocating Saw". Furthermore, the brushed steel guide plate (as seen in the advertisement) and the light seem more optimized to cutting through drywall than a side of beef. That being said, other reviewers have found it useful for dressing game in the field and for taxidermy so it apparently serves well for cutting through bone and meat. I just have no personal need of that function. As the reviewer who used it for hunting commented, it also does well for clearing brush and trail blazing.I tried it out on some dead oak branches up to 2 inches in diameter and it went through them like butter. Cutting speed and sharpness were good so there was not stuttering or hammering in the cut. Also, control was excellent: I was able to cut off dead branches within 1/4" of the main trunk without injuring the trunk or its bark with no difficulty.Size, weight and hand are excellent. It is well balanced and easy to wield. Its weight does not add to ease of cutting as some others have mentioned: it's a hand tool, not a chain saw.I only plan to use it as a battery powered reciprocating saw around the house or out in the acreage, but I'd say $96 for a very serviceable cordless reciprocating saw is a bargain.

This is a great deal. Essentially you're getting a reciprocating saw with 3 bone saw blades. If you need to use this for another project, simply put in the appropriate blade and you're good to go.As for the saw itself. I got the yellow one and it uses a Makita style battery, but it charges with its own transformer. I would not put this battery on a Makita charging unit. I have another battery like this and it is heavily labeled to only use the charging unit that came with the battery. The saw has a 3-LED indicator for battery life and two different LEDs for the speed you are wanting to cut with. To change speeds you simply push the only button that is there. The enclosed blades are 9 inches long, but once you lock them into the saw your cutting portion ranges from about 7 inches to 7.5 inches. It is smooth and relatively quiet in its operation. It is very easy to use, and that is a good thing, because there are essentially no instructions. The instruction booklet that comes with it is the instructions for what I can only guess is all their tools. There is not a page for bone saw specifically, but there is a page for reciprocating saw. However, it is mostly warnings and how to saw as opposed to instructions for the saw itself. The case it comes in has a foam cutout to place each accessory that comes with the saw, plus a small cutout at the top that I think is for smaller reciprocating blades. The bone blades are much too long to fit in this slot so they slide in nicely between the foam and the case itself. The case is not a heavy-duty one, but it is pretty strong and should be strong enough to get the job done.
