I ordered gray, medium. I am 5' 8", 155 lbs. It fits perfectly, especially in the shoulders, which is nice. The chest and waist have enough room to move well and wear whatever I want under it. The construction is excellent. This coat is great for costume/historical reenactment, but is well-made enough for regular wear. The color is nice. It was not heavily wrinkled and those fell out easily with a little steaming. Very happy with this purchase.

Wasn't expecting much of this item when ordered (was actually thinking it was thin without lining), BUT, wow! It is quality at its best! Hand made with lining and average to better wool grade. Bottom hem comes to the bottom of the knees and the shoulders fit perferct. I rated it a bit big, not too big though, around the waist, but it opens up nicely in the front - plus, as part of a pirate costume for this season, I'll have layers that will fill out the waist area. See pics, but to give you an idea (sorry, no rear pic, but there is a "staybright" belt on the back adjustable with two buttons that match what's in front), I usually wear large coats/jackets and my measurements are as follows: chest=45", waist=33", shoulders=25". Pics shows it in a bit of "packaging" shape, but hand steaming it will relax the shape a good deal.Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and the quality of this coat will make it last for decades. This is a "museum quality" item well worth the cost.

I love this coat, it's very high quality for the price! I (5'10" 185lbs 42 chest 32 pants) initially ordered a medium, but it was too large at the waist and chest for me, also sleeves too long. I ordered a small instead and returned the medium. The small fits great! Dont be afraid to order a size down from what you might normally wear.The stamped brass buttons are very nice, and pretty accurate. The wool is thick and is decently smooth/soft. This coat is comparable to a lot of European WW2 officer's coats I've had. Essentially, it is made to hold up to abuse and actually keep you warm in the cold. There is a functional strap in the small of the back with 2 buttons that you can use to tighten/loosen the waist with, also historically accurate.

I love this jacket. It's a work of art. Truly beautiful and comfortable both! However, the blue is quite a bit darker in reality than the pictures lead me to believe. It's so dark that it's almost black! The arm length is also just ever so slightly too long for my arms, but that's not really a big deal for me.The jacket is quite warm, as one would expect. Likewise, given it's authentic button design it is a bit tedius to unbotton and rebutton everything if you wish to wear the jacket in closed up fashion. However, I expect most would intend to wear it open front anyway.

My thought about this wonderful coat's two items that disappointed me just a little.I have a concern over the orientation of the sleeve cuffs. The points of the cuffs point inward rather than to the rear or downward depending on the angle of the forearm.And there should be an inside left breast pocket for a wallet, checkbook or a phone.Those two considerations would make this coat a xkass act to be sure.

The coat is as good as it is described. Very well built, very solid materials. Does NOT feel like a costume. The buttons however are a strangely bad stamping job that makes them look plastic. I think they tried to make them look old and handmade. I will be replacing these as soon as I can find substitutes. My only practical concern is that it is very heavy material, so very warm to wear. Someone in the comments asked if the buttons work (they do) but unless you're playing a pirate lost in the Arctic, you'll never use them. Off to pillage!

Exactly as described. Perfect for pirate or 17th century naval costume. The sizing was perfect and exactly as listed in the sizing chart. They included a spare button too--a class act. Extremely good materials and stitching looks good, lining executed as with a fine dress suit. Wool is very warm thought so expect that for warm weather days.
