Just hilarious! I had a ton of fun making these ornaments. Easy, simple and uncomplicated. I sometimes like adding my own personal touch to these felt kits so instead of all red sequins on the Christmas Tree ornament I instead used multi-colored sequins, it is after all an ugly sweater ornament lol! Also instead of all red sequins on the candy cane sleeve I used red and white sequins, just to add a lil’ class! Fun for me!

I was surprised at the quality of the felt in this Ugly Sweater kit. I’m used to wool felt and don’t like most polyester felt. I don’t know what this felt was composed of but it was nice! The thread said it was made in France but it was not as soft as my DMC floss. But it worked. The directions were sparse and not for beginners unless they are confident, brave and willing to just wing it. For example, I could not find any directions about how many strands of floss to use for the applique. I used one strand and it worked. Also the directions said to “sequin and applique” the back of the sweater to the front. HUH?? Nowhere did I see where the back was to be sequined and appliqued. I chose to applique a white band to the back upon which I had embroidered my initials and the year. I think every handmade item should be so labeled.But I spend MANY enjoyable hours putting these together. I listened to audio books (YES!) and watched many hours of Hallmark Christmas movies (not so great IMO). But the kit was good. Great designers. Good quality control. I’m happy. You will be too if you enjoy handwork!!!

I love to sew and these felt ornaments were a breeze. I made all 6 in a matter of a month and gave them as christmas gifts to my family. Very well received. The instructions are super clear, and all you need to complete them is in the kit. I even had floss and beads, and sequins left over.

This is a super cute felt kit but I found it doesn’t have near enough thread to complete all of the projects. I ran out of several colors (white, red, dk green) while trying to finish this and still had much more to go. Maybe I got a defective product since I’ve done many of these before without issues. Please make sure to buy extra thread just in case!

This is my second Bucilla applique kit I've purchased. Everything comes in a single package: reference picture, instructions, thread, needles, sequins, beads, and felt. The kit takes a lot of guess-work out of how to create items like these. If there is any tip(s) that I can recommend for this project is to 1) look over the instructions first, 2) separate your materials, and 3) purchase some polyfill for the recommended portions to add dimension. The instructions say to separate the thread, so you can do that and use an index card or piece of cardboard with holes punched in them to tie the thread onto. I used a small, multi-compartment container to separate the sequins and beads into. If you make a mistake, don't fret. There are times, I've used the wrong color bead or thread, but made it work. Worse case, you'll have to purchase some extra stuff, but it doesn't cost a lot at your nearby fabric store. The cons for this project are that the outlines on the red felt (which are white) are a little light/hard to see and instructions can be a little confusing, but manageable. Otherwise, this is an awesome kit. Have fun!
