I'm so impressed with this wooden bug box and kit! I've only ever seen plastic ones and they ALWAYS break. The long carry handle is so much more practical, and the extras (magnifying glass, plant/bug id cards, bug grabbers 7 net) are all sturdy and good quality. This is definitely giftable!

This is a high-quality and fun set for the kids. My 3 and 5 year olds love it. They put bugs and worms in the various containers and look at them with the magnifiers. Just yesterday they brought it to me full of mushrooms they collected "for me." The little one insisted I keep it in my office. The build quality is pretty good. I like that it's wood. It's all sanded smooth and nicely put together. I highly recommend.

I grabbed this wooden bug catching kit for my 4-year-old daughter, and it has quickly become her absolute favorite toy. From the moment she opened the box, she was completely enchanted. The kit feels sturdy and well-made—none of that cheap plastic stuff—and the wooden pieces give it a charming, classic feel. She calls it her “adventure kit” and proudly carries it around the backyard in search of “cool critters.” The mesh bug house is perfect for temporary bug homes, and the magnifying glass has sparked a lot of “Dad, come look at this!” moments. It’s been a fantastic way to get her outside, away from screens, and curious about nature. As a parent, I really appreciate the thoughtful design. The tools are safe for little hands, and everything stores nicely together so we’re not constantly chasing down missing parts. It even sparked a mini science lesson when we looked up the bugs she found.Highly recommend this for any parent with a curious little one who loves the outdoors.

Overall, this is a high quality set and quite durable. There are a few pieces (i.e. the bug catching tongs) that I don't think will last because they are just cheap plastic but most of the items seem sturdy. For the amount of wood, I think it is a decent price. There are some nice details like the pictures on the id cards and around the magnifying glass. This would make a wonderful gift (we might repack it to save for that purpose) for a kid age 2-10

We’re a Montessori household and this kit has been a huge hit with my daughter. She’s going through a big nature phase right now and absolutely loves exploring the backyard with these tools. Everything is well made from durable materials, easy for little hands to use, the perfect size, and encourages so much curiosity and learning. I especially love the wooden materials and ID cards — such a great way to mix play with real science! Total win.

5 stars with one caveat. I appreciate that most of the pieces are wood instead of plastic and seem to be quite sturdy, so will likely stand up to kid use. I used to catch bugs in old baby food jars when I was a kid. I would have loved something like this. I also love the way it encourages kids to get out and explore the world of bugs. And the bug catching tongs are a great tool for catching without touching, although they seem to require a bit more manual dexterity than most kids have. The tongs may be most useful for a parent or auntie (me) who isn't keen on actually having to pick up bugs in her fingers. The caveat is that some pieces may not be tough enough for the rough treatment they seem likely to get. I can easily picture one of the kids swinging the net full force trying to catch a flying bug, missing, and slamming the net into a tree or the ground, bending/breaking the net. Ditto the plastic bug catching tongs.

This little bug catching set is absolutely perfect in every way! My kids could not wait to gather all of the pieces and go on an exploration of the yard! It offers hours of simple, fun outdoors, and has such an educational aspect as well. All of the pieces are made of wood and seem far more durable than the average “plastic” tanks otherwise available, and the net is also telescopic and very sturdy! This would make the perfect gift for any child! My two-year-old loved it, along with my three and four-year-old. I’m sure they would still enjoy it at eight and nine years old as well! I feel this is a great value for the money, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to encourage their kids to enjoy some fun outdoors!

he kit includes essentials like a magnifying glass, butterfly net, tweezers, and a bug container, all neatly packed in a drawstring bag. My child was thrilled to explore and observe insects up close, making it both fun and educational. However, I noticed that some components, particularly the plastic parts, feel a bit flimsy. After a few uses, the bug container's lid became loose, and the net's handle showed signs of wear. While it's a great starter kit for young explorers, be prepared for the possibility of replacing parts if your child is particularly enthusiastic. Overall, it's a delightful set that sparks curiosity, but don't expect it to withstand rough handling.
