This is not stainless steel. I was skeptical when I received them, because they didn't have the shine that stainless steel does. Then I put a magnet to it and the magnet did not stick to it (it would have if it was stainless steel). Disappointed, because I only bought them for being advertised as stainless steel, but they're aluminum.

Cheaply made. The rubber grip that is supposed to go around the plate so it will stick to a surface is loose and wobbly and doesn’t stay put. Don’t buy this product

I absolutely love these plates! I also have the matching bowls, and they’ve been a fantastic addition to our kitchen. Not only do they give me peace of mind by keeping my toddlers away from harmful plastics, but they’re also incredibly durable and dishwasher-friendly. We've had them for months, and despite daily use by my 1- and 2-year-olds, there’s been no cracking, breaking, or damage at all!I previously used plastic bowls for my toddler, but they started to absorb smells and even gave the food a plastic taste. These plates are a perfect upgrade—they’re safe to use in the microwave, which is super convenient.I really appreciate that they offer the best of both worlds: Stainless Steel where it matters for food safety. Overall, a great purchase!

I had a devil of a time wrestling the silicone on, and then it likes to collect and wick moisture. You really have to take it off to wash every single time. Taking it off is no problem, I think my kid will be able to knock it out pretty soon. But putting it on every time...I ain't got time for that. That said, the plates themselves are pretty decent. They're not super thick but not too thin, either. I'll probably end up just using them without the silicone. They're good for portioning, keeping foods separate, and providing the little lip to help push food onto a utensil or helping a little one pick up cereal or whatever.

These are nice large plates and the suction power is good, but I was struggling to get the silicone piece back on after washing. My family was waiting for their plates while I struggled to get this thing put together. At that point, I just gave up and just had it on 3 sides and called it good enough. I'm also not a huge fan of the shape. All of my other stainless steel plates are round and all stack together, regardless if it's a larger plate or a toddler plate. These don't stack with them so that's not ideal.

I really like having stainless steel utensils for my kids for tons of reasons. It is an interesting idea about the silicone sleeve, but the plated can be popped out of it too easy, so I don't think it would do what is suppose to do-hold the plate in. Plus, I am not interested trying to put the plate in and out of the sleeve every time I turn around. So, these plates would be the best for youngest kids or kids who already learned not to throw the plate on the floor. And if they do, it is not an issue. Honestly, it is not that difficult to teach the child not to throw food/items during meals. You just need to be very consistent and have consequences. So the silicone sleeve is not something which means a lot to me. Somebody here mentioned that they think it is aluminum. I would not know and have no way to check. But the metal can be polished different ways and look different, also aluminum is not magnetic. I was able to stick the magnet to the plate and it was magnetic. So, it is definitely not aluminum. SS kitchen items are very easy to clean and I like the size of these plates. I would say it is a great choice for kids' kitchen items.

The idea is great! I was looking for a non toxic and non breakable option, I really want to love these, however the silicone sleeve is such a hassle to try to put on and it comes of so easily. Spending 5 minutes just trying to get the thing on the plate only for it to immediately slip off is the last thing an overstimulated mom needs to be dealing with at dinner time. I will be returning these and trying another brand that will HOPEFULLY work better.

That’s a great point to include—here’s the updated review with your note worked in:I got this set for a couple of baby showers I’ve got coming up. They’re definitely more suited for when the baby is a bit older and starting on solids, but I figure it’s one of those things parents will be glad to have on hand when the time comes. The plates feel really well made—nice and solid with smooth stainless steel. They’re divided into sections, which I think is great for toddlers who like to keep their food separate. The silicone sleeves around the edges are soft and fit tight, and they help the plate stay put on the table or highchair. I gave one a little test on my own kitchen counter, and the suction did a good job of holding it down. They’re a good size—not too bulky, but big enough to hold a full toddler meal. I also like that they aren’t plastic. The metal feels like it’ll last a long time and won’t stain or hold onto odors.I think these will come in really handy once the babies hit that messy eating stage. It’s a practical gift, and the quality looks solid enough to last through plenty of meals and tumbles.
