About this item

  • 2 Modes - Dual-Band Bug Zapper & LED Lighting: The Buzbug MA-20 uses two types of UV light (365nm and 395nm) to attract bug better, especially at night. Plus, it has a built-in LED light that's super bright (like a 45W bulb), so you get both bug control and lighting in one.
  • Energy-Saving & Long-Lasting: This bug zapper only uses 12W of power, which is 40% less energy than regular zappers. The LED lights can last up to 30,000 hours, so if you use it during the summer, it could last up to 10 years!
  • Safe & Waterproof: The Buzbug MA-20 is built for outdoor use. It's waterproof (IPX4 rating), so rain won't hurt it. Plus, the sturdy, fire-resistant material makes it super durable, and the long power cord (6.5 feet) lets you place it anywhere.
  • Powerful Mosquito Killer: It has a 3800V electric grid that quickly zaps mosquitoes. The grid is protected, so it's safe around kids and pets while still keeping your area bug-free.
  • Large Coverage Area: This zapper covers a large area (over 1/2 acre), making it perfect for backyards, porches, gardens, or even larger outdoor spaces.
  • Easy to Use: Switching between bug control and lighting is super easy. Just press the button once for bug zapper mode, again for light mode, and a third time to turn it off.
  • 10-Year Warranty: The zapper comes with a 1-year warranty for the device and a 10-year warranty for the LED light. If anything breaks, you can get a replacement through the warranty.

Spring is coming to central TX. Along with the rains and warming temperatures, the mosquitoes have started arriving. Boy, was I glad to finally unbox this buzbug electric bug zapper! Put it by the front door where the bugs like to sneak in, and within half an hour, a satisfying zaaap! Woohoo! This bug zapper is way better than the one I used to have (from Walmart) that needed a nasty-smelling pellet to attract mosquitoes so they could be zapped. Though similarly sized, this buzbug zapper is way better at attracting mosquitoes. So far, I’ve only used this indoors with the blue light (called the “UV-LED Mosquito Control Mode”). The blue light is quite pleasant, though it may feel too bright if you want to keep the room dark at night. There is a brighter, white “lighting mode” which I’ve not had to use.In both light modes, the bug zapper is soundless until a bug comes along and then zaaap!I like that there’s decent instruction booklet, written in clear and grammatically correct English, in large print, with helpful illustrations.

Every year I have to suffer through two major moth infestation periods. In the spring when they migrate to wherever they go and in the fall when they migrate back to where ever they came from.I hate having them fly all about. Recently I have started getting bug zappers and now I wonder why I didn’t get them earlier (one year there must have been 100 moths in the house every night!) Boy did I suffer. Now with the bug zappers, the infestation is down to a bare minimum - which I can tolerate. It isn’t moth season yet, so I cant attest to this bug zapper’s effectiveness. But if it is like the others. It will get the job done.

3 switch settings: One push-UV light; Second push-white light; Third push–OFF. Note that this unit has a switch for turning on and off; others at lower price can rely on plug in, pull out from an outlet to turn off. This zapper comes with a cleaning brush for knocking off bugs that have stuck to the high voltage grid. This unit's slide-out tray that collects dead bugs is better, I believe, than the style that requires unscrewing the collector at the bottom. The top of the “roof” has a hanging loop made of sturdy plastic, which over several years exposed to the elements is not going to start rusting, which could happen when a plated metal ring is used. The UV lights are LED and cost less to operate than older type lights. The white light option has a coverage sufficient to cover a picnic table, but, of course, the glare could be disconcerting unless the unit is perhaps raised above sight lines of people talking with one another.BUG ZAPPING PERFORMANCEI personally cannot provide a review of its actual performance at this point. I live in the north, and there is still snow on the ground. However, just search for Buzbug Zapper and you’ll get a very good idea of performance from many many reviews. Look for LED in the titles. Keep in mind that some of the reviews may possibly be for a different model with different features than this specific one. Nonetheless, you can see that all the Buzbug zappers have overall favorable reviews for effectiveness.IMPORTANT SAFETY AND PRACTICAL TIPS1. SAFETY: 6.5 feet of cord will almost certainly mandate that you use an extension cord for most locations on the fringes of your activity zones. SEAL THE JUNCTION from rain if it will be exposed to the elements, perhaps by wrapping it tightly with electrical tape. USE A DROOP in the line from the zapper to where it plugs into the outlet that provides power to the zapper, so that rainwater does not flow into the outlet.2. SAFETY: BEFORE CLEANING VOLTAGE GRIDS AND EMPTYING the dead bug tray, SWITCH UNIT OFF AND WAIT a minute or two. This will avoid the possibility, however remote, of getting a shock, because it takes a a bit of time for the charge (stored by capacitors in all zappers) to dissipate.3. COMFORT: Use zapper away from open windows or doors you use frequently, unless you think the buzzing, snapping sounds will be soothing!4. PRACTICALITY: I do not believe it’s wise to have unit run continuously. I suggest using an inexpensive timer to go on an hour or two before dusk and have it turn off automatically, to free yourself of the necessity of pushing the switch regularly.5. ALTRUISM?: Don't dump the dead bugs; put them near or in or on your bird feeder. Treat birds to sterilized bugs!

We live in the northeast near a lake, so bugs are ALWAYS a problem in our world! I'm always looking for solutions that keep our wildlife and my toddler safe.Upon unboxing, I realized that while this zapper is at a reasonable price point, I'm not sure it's quite as robust as I'd hoped for. While the instructions say it can be left on continuously, I have a feeling I will only be using this bug zapper to try to attract bugs away from us when we are actively outside on warm days. The cord on the unit is surprisingly short, which requires the use of a long outdoor extension cord. I worry about the unit's ability to stand up to rain or other exposures. While we haven't entered prime bug season yet, I did use it on my covered porch area and I am excited to report that it did zap a few bugs successfully, so it does work. Whether or not it works to the degree of impacting on a warm midsummer night is yet to be seen.

the Buzbug LED Fly Zapper serves as a proactive barrier against future infestations. By using this device regularly, you can create an inhospitable environment for flies and other flying pests, helping to deter them from entering your home in the first place. This preventative approach not only enhances your living space's cleanliness and comfort but also minimizes the risk of health issues associated with insect presence. The Buzbug is an ideal tool for maintaining a pest-free home, giving you peace of mind knowing that you are taking active steps to prevent unwanted visitors. It’s important to note that I do not promote the killing of bugs or pests. Instead, I view this device as a preventative measure to help maintain a clean and safe living environment, reducing the risk of pests that may carry diseases or cause discomfort.

I have an office in our basement and when spring comes, there's some spot where bees get in. I hung this up in a different section to see if they would be attracted to that rather than the lights, and it's worked pretty well so far. I didn't think the light would be bright enough, but it has done the job. Haven't tried cleaning it, but it plugs in and is LED, so so far so good.

Our family lives in the woods on 5 acres with a stream and pond. We have lots of bugs. I bought 1 a couple weeks ago, it works soo well, I just ordered another. Really like hearing it work (not too loud though), both day and night. I have another (different brand) that only seems to attract moths. This one gets a lot of mosquitos, yellow jackets, and an assortment of other nasty bugs. Don't know about the longevity yet(will update) but so far, we're loving this little zapper! Works great!
