This brush is very functional and does the job. You can use the soft side, which still gets a lot of my dog's hair. You can also use the other side for a massage on your dog. We use it in the shower when bathing the dog, and it works great.

My 17-year-old longhaired cat has more and more problems with knots in her fur. This brush really helps to keep those from forming and to remove smaller ones. The metal pins do a very good job of removing fur and clumps WITHOUT scratching her skin.The brush part is nice for overall grooming of the cat and then for grooming the front of my husband, who often ends up covered with fur.

I really like this brush and my cat does too. He doesn't seem to care for the soft bristle side and I feel like they could be a bit firmer but he loves the metal side and it seems like every time I use it I get a good amount of hair out. I also like the size of it, some dog/cat brushes are just too big for a cat but this is right in the middle. I feel like the metal bristles could be a little closer together for a cat brush to grab more hair but it still works just fine and I feel it would work best for long hair cats or dogs and be great for matting. It also seems pretty gentle. I think it's a decent versatile brush for the price and I'm happy with it.

This item is sturdy and works as you would expect a brush to do. The problem? It smells strongly of something (petroleum-ey) and my cat doesn't want to go near this brush.

We have a 5 y/o 90lb Labradoodle. He LOVES to be brushed, but only with non-pointy wire bristles brushes. When we adopted him he had one like this that he loved but it finally fell apart. I bought several new fancy ones but all had those really thin, blunt end metal bristles. He hated them! There's something about having the coated tip that really makes the difference. I ordered this brush and he's back to loving be brushed with both sides. It's also nice to have a 2 in 1 brush because the metal bristles are good for working through tangles in his long coat, whereas the soft side is great for his ears and face or post bath. This brush isn't the highest quality thing ever made, but so far it's worked very well for us, especially for the price! I'm a fan. Who needs fancy? My dog certainly doesn't care! I can definitely recommend this. And yes I paid for it.
