This Awl works very well and the only one I found with two different needle size's for different thread thickness. It also comes with extra pin for piercing holes. I would buy one again.

It looks like an awl should, but it doesn't perform like one should. That's saying quite a bit considering the extremely simple performance criteria for an awl. After all, it's really nothing more than a handle with a needle on one end. The problem with THIS awl is that: 1) one of the two needles doesn't fit the socket and simply falls out, 2) there is no hole in the needle socket through which one can put the thread, making use of the awl VERY awkward and difficult, 3) the thread that comes with the awl is so thin and weak it can barely function to hold things together.In short, this is a worthless piece of junk and I **strongly** recommend you buy something else.

Once again you get whet you pay for. This product is flimsy, dosen't hold the needle tight enough when going through thick material or leather.

Handy for quick fixes. it is a two handed tool. May be helpful to use a small curved needle to work with on the second hand. Took a star away because I needed to put on rubber band on top of the spool to reduce the free wheeling some.

I think this is more to my liking than Speedy Stitcher. This does a better job at handling the finer threads. The handle holds a selection of needles and the wrench pictured in the ad. The design is simple, but simple can be a very good thing. Finian Blake

This is the perfect tool for doing a some small leather and canvas repairs I've been meaning to get to. High quality build, comfortable in the hand, and good instructions and tips for use. Would definitely recommend.

I like the concept and it definitely seems ideal for quick stitching, but it just doesn't work well. The large needle can be tightened down pretty well and will stay in place for the most part, but the small needle will not stay put no matter how hard its tightened down. The spool has a good amount of thread on it but it would have been nice if it were pre-waxed. There's some work involved in prepping that thread even though its already on the awl. I like that the needles and wrench are stored within the handle. The shape and size of the handle are also nice for leather work. But unless it holds the needle in place its not very useful.
