The transmit and receive signals are crossed to ensure proper data transmission. Each null modem cable is designed with a rugged, overmolded construction that provides added strain relief and a solid connection each time. Hooked it up and it didn't work...had to use another one.Construction is good and could have been a 5 star cable if it only worked.

I purchased 3 of these cables to go from USB RS-232 adapters to CNC Machining Centers (Haas brand, one 1994, one 2010, one 2014, and one 2015) and have had 0 issues thus far. I do not run these at extremely high baud rates (9600 works well).

This is not a null modem cable. pins 2 and 3 are not crossed.

Used for connecting to electrical control equipment in an industrial setting. The connection between the laptop and device once established frequently failed and timed out. My old Radio Shack (shielded) cables and connectors, that are no longer available, functioned normally. I returned the cables and connectors and have now purchased the Radio Shack cables from E-Bay sellers.
