Its an IDE conversion cable that's 6" inches long. I use this for the Saberent sata/ide/sata 2.5" connecting tool because the jokers at the company who made the tool did not realize that the IDE connector on the tool would block the power connector on the hard drive. Had to buy this cable in order to give the drive a bit of space so that the power connecter would be able to be connected to the power part of the drive.

it's not worth putting off the upgrade from IDE to SATA. This cable did not work, had a clear bump in it that obv messed with its function. Just get a solid IDE to sata converter and transfer everything asap. The longer you use outdated technology the greater a chance of it either failing or you being taken for a ride.

I use these to go between a Raspberry Pi screen and the raspberry pi itself. It works great! and can handle the frequencies.

I bought this product so I wouldn't have to massacre the network adapter in my Playstation 2 to fit with my StarTech SATA/IDE adapter. The product works great and fits snugly in my PS2 when using a 2.5" SATA hard drive. You will NOT be able to squeeze a 3.5" drive in there, but I doubt anyone makes a SATA to IDE adapter small enough for that anyways.

This cable measures exactly 6" from outside edge of one connector to the outside edge of the other connector and with it laid perfectly flat and no wrinkles. Be sure you measure a few times to be sure it will work for your purpose! In my case the length is about perfect. My only design complaint is the male connector end has so much room on either side of the pins that it is possible to plug it into the mating header and miss a pair of pins on one side or the other! My second complaint might be overall quality control? The first one I received started showing bad connection behavior the day AFTER the replacement period. I'm using it to connect an LCD screen to a micro controller and the data lines starting losing color and touch data. I tried numerous times to ohm check and see if I could press the wire into the connectors more firmly to fix the poor connection. Nothing worked. Thankfully Amazon stepped in to help get a replacement. The replacement has been working fine for a few weeks now with no sign of failing so far. Other than that, it's a cable...

The cable itself is exactly as described - 40 pins, 6 inches. The problem is that IDE cables and ports are generally missing a pin (pin 32, I think), and many female connectors have a plastic cap instead of a socket for this pin. On the female end of the extension cable, this isn't an issue because there's simply a socket with no matching pin. On the male end of the extension cable, you have to bend or snap this pin to get the cable to connect.I ended up carefully bending this pin to the side where it wouldn't make contact with anything, and even though the pin keeps the connector from sitting snug against the female end of the ribbon cable I'm using, the connection is secure and I've had no issues.

To be a standar IDE cable extension, I didn't found anything you could complain about.Just be aware its a 40 pin and 40 cables adapter, better suited for DVD/CD writers or old hard drives that are ATA33/66. This cable won't do 133.I use it on a IDE DVD writer that a connect through USB. But the adapter is too bulky to be directly connected to the hard drive. This cable is welcome in this case.Overall I'm very satisfied with the purchase and i can recommend it.
