I got these for my son he loves to target practice & these are perfect you can change them to hear what is going on around you when you are done shooting or switch them back into full cancellation mode I am autistic one time we were going to the movies to see King Kong and he brought those with him so that I could use them as noise cancellation, headphones, and they worked quite well for that too he has had them for a few years now and then you’re still working awesome and still look new

Item was previously used, and repackaged. Plastics are scratched, and previous set of batteries are installed in the unit and had exploded. Thanks a lot.

I took them to the range and loved it. I could hear people talking around me but the pew pew was muted. It basically works like sound compression, and it works well. The ONLY issue is it amplified the range from a ways away, since it was not loud enough to trigger the compression. And these things are extremely comfortable. I almost forgot I had them on.

Work great. Can talk at normal volume and when shooting decreases the sound to stated decibels. Light weight and comfortable. I purchased for my daughter-in-law, she loves them.

Bought these for trap shoots, worked as described. Could hear everyone around me and noise cut out for any shots. Voices were amplified, so could hear what everyone was saying and the direction it came from. Would buy again.

I purchased a pair of these for work and a more expensive pair from another brand for the shooting range (higher NRR on other brand). There is some hiss and the audio quality is ok, don't expect hi-def, much what I expected at this price point. They are fairly comfortable to wear, no better/worse than my regular ear muffs. My one big complaint is the audio isn't balanced very well. The speaker on the battery side is noticably louder than the one on the control side. I have some hearing lose in one ear and when I put the louder speaker on that ear I can hear better than my good ear. it seems one speaker is barely working. They also shut down at the sound of my sliding screen door shutting and toilet flushing (I was testing them around the house), seems a little too sensitive. The controls are a bit hard to find while wearing although I don't think that's going to be too big of an issue. The directional microphones are cool, you can tell something is in front of you or behind you. I'm probably going to return these due to the speaker imbalance..Edit: I contacted the company and they sent me a new pair that is much better. I'm not sure why the other review said they never received a response from Caldwell, I received an email back within a couple hours. I've bumped my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars. For the price point these aren't bad.
