This is real metal except the knob and it seems very sturdy. I'm using it with a 5/8" female to 1/4" male adapter to add a more affordable swivel adjustment onto a dual microphone mount. I paid about $13 for both pieces compared to the Audio Technica 5/8" swivel mount around $40.This is a semi-permanent installation so I'm happy with the quality. For every day use and adjustment I think it would still work too. Definitely better than the plastic 1/4" female to 1/4" male swivel mounts I have received as part of some camera bundles.

I ordered this to use with my yeti blackout mic! I needed something to or able to mount my mic on to get it off my desk and this works perfectly!! So I ended up getting 3 more just in case I have other things I want to mount!!

Nifty little piece of engineering design. I bought it to mount a digital audio recorder to the top of my camcorder using the hot shoe. It's sturdy and solid. The top 5/8" mic screw is actually an adapter that can be removed to reveal a standard 1/4" tripod mount screw so it's very versatile. Very happy with this purchase.

Seems to be good quality but will not screw on a mic stand. It has a 5/8-27 mount on top but what the shoe screws into is a standard tripod mount. So the swivel mount is truly only good for a camera set up not a stand.
