Worth the money. Phone doesn't even need to be connected with the USB to show the gps. Great for cities.

Car audiophile for 30 years. My long-serving Kenwood DNX7100 double-DIN head unit died on me a couple weeks ago.I’ve been prognosticating throughout these last years regarding these Chinese Android head units- Saying that their tech would inevitably improve with time- Eventually being on-par with the well-established name brands… Or quite near to them. And finding myself currently in a lower income state… And Not currently in a position to drop $1k-$2k on a new H.U?… I took a gamble. - “Perhaps, Now is that time?”My wallet certainly said it’s time to find out.So, I put my (lack-of-)money where my mouth has been- Bought this $45 unit off Amazon. Took a chance on this relatively new mfgr. Not many reviews. But of the few there Are?, Reports seemed to be overwhelmingly good. Good enough for my purposes… My thoughts being that- I’d rather take a chance on a newest brand mfgr that I could find… In the theory that- The newer the tech?, the better the chance of potential for improved performance, over the sub-standard operation of Android H.U.’s from when they first began hitting the scene, some years ago. Plenty of horror stories. And no shortage of egoistic audiophiles, with their noses in the air, ready to condemn Android units outright… Their identity being so wrapped-up in the $ they spend, and the brand names on their gear.“Your repetitious opinion is noted. But I’ll find out for myself, thanks.”“Haudio?”Hmmm, Ok…Is it pronounced- “How-dee-o”?… As in- “HOW could you possibly consider buying this?”Whatever…(Click- Buy.)(Rolls dice)- Update after install -I’ve still got some wire-work to do. And I’ve not yet wired the back-up cam… But thus-far? - I’m quite impressed. More than satisfied… So far.My initial impression after the first 2 days?• This head unit should cost Way more $, relative to the comparative functions of more-established name brands. By that matrix alone, this should cost Way, WAY More. Or, more rightly framed- THEY should cost Far Less.I’ve only been using it for the last 2 days. And I still have a-lot to do to learn & familiarize myself with all of its functions & features. But my primary & overall initial fear of “sound quality” has been alleviated. - Sounds good. I don’t have any tech equipment to comparatively test & measure… But to MY ears?… I think it sounds great. Perhaps even Better than my last Kenwood?… Though that could be my smug & satisfied wallet talking.Regardless. Sounds good to me. The EQ is full spectrum and full-screen. Again, I’ve got a lot to learn before I’m well-versed in its full capabilities & operation. So this is not a comprehensive review. Merely initial impressions. My only gripe thus-far, is that it only has 1 RCA pre-out dedicated for the “Subwoofer-out”. Whereas my Kenwood (as well as most all big name brands) have 2 RCA pre-outs for “Subwoofer-out”- A “Left”, and A “Right” for sub pre-out channels. But this Haudio unit only has 1… Meaning- it must be a Mono sub pre-out only? No stereo- “duel” sub pre-outs. And this 1- RCA sub pre-out seems to be a very high-level output. So high, that I’m afraid of it possibly clipping, or damaging my JL Audio sub amp if I utilize it, straight, as-is. I still have some work to do, tweaking, measuring, & adjusting levels before I connect my sub to it.Currently, I’m only running the line-out “wired” speakers. They, at least, sound great, so far.Another surprise bonus is that the unit provides powered, line-out, wire option for speakers, as well as an entire secondary Additional set of RCA outputs as well, for fronts & rears… In case you’re running amps, or not. That was a welcome surprise for $45. Only high-end head units have Ever came with such- RCA and wired. -You have Both choices. And since This Has both?- Another option available to me, if one/I DOES Want to retain stereo subs?… Would be to utilize one of the spare RCA pre-outs for the “Fronts” or “Rears”. And just buy a low-pass crossover, sub converter. Run ‘em off the full-range RCA’s in stereo. It’s that, or I plug-in a RCA “Y” splitter- Feed the Haudio’s mono 1 RCA sub pre-out to Both my R & L sub amp inputs. -Just run full mono from source. That’s probably what I’ll do first… See how it sounds. Been a long time since I’ve dug into my system’s intricate workings & settings. There’s a chance I’m currently already running mono on the amp’s back-end anyways? I really don’t remember. Gotta dig into it. Lot to disassemble and take apart to tackle the sub… Which is why I haven’t done it yet… Or the back-up camera… One thing at a time. Taking this slow. Want to make sure I’m satisfied with the unit’s performance, Before I continue on, full-tilt. But, so far? All else has been better than good. So, Full-tilt is now set to proceed this weekend. Hook it ALL up to run everything.Unless I encounter anything else negative worth reporting on in the coming days?… This’ll be my last & only update/review posting. So if I’ve not added to this in any way in the future?- You should feel confident in getting this head unit yourself. Seems I picked a winner. But as I expected, anticipated, and prognosticated- The tech has evolved & improved immensely these last couple years. So that NOW- Quality IS becoming comparable with top-shelf industry standards.Haudio- Go get one. $45.If YOU happen to Not like it?… Put it in your girl’s car. It’s $45!It’ll likely be better than anything she’s Ever had or experienced previously. You’re a hero. You win either way.I’m sure there’ll be other brands to try-out as well- now, and in the times ahead. There may even be better brands available Now. If there are? They’re too new for there to be much of any user feedback or reviews yet. As-was the case for this Haudio unit I took a chance on… And got lucky.

I will admit that I wasn’t expecting much when I got this item, but it’s features and performance were a pleasant surprise! The touch screen was fast and responsive, sound quality was par, and there were some features not included on the $150 head unit I bought for my daily driver (I got this for my second vehicle). It is worth mentioning that the unit runs on Android OS, so while it works with Apple CarPlay, it might be better suited for Android Auto. This didn’t affect my impression or general performance, just a note for those who might care.Install was pretty easy, but was a bit awkward. The unit includes a harness for upgrade from stock radio, where you can buy a harness for your vehicle and solder the wires together directly. It also has a harness for the plugs that come on with head units, the two plugs: one for power etc, and the other for all the speakers. In this scenario, you would plug the harness into the head unit, then plug the old harness into this one, which is a little weird but it allows for some flexibility. One feature that was really cool was the balancing. You can adjust the power to each speaker on an X-Y graph. For instance you can bring all power to the front drivers speaker, or just the front, with the sound off in the back, and so on. Really cool and unique feature that was fun to play with. You can also adjust subwoofer features to low, moderate, and high, and turn on and off “loudness”. Also available is the standard EQ settings, where you can preset the EQ for different genres or a custom setting.I liked this unit a lot! Recommend

Been in for one week and Ide say this is definitely an upgrade. It fits the double DIN hole of my cateye Silverado ok with no mods or cutting on the truck. The brackets had to be opened up a bit and I did have to use some felt tape to widen the trim of the stereo to completely fill the opening. The overall quality of this stereo and its components is pretty decent for the money. Display-image quality is fantastic and audio output is better than the previous stereo. The tuner seems to work fine, station selection is a little different but functional. I had to zip-tie the gps antenna up under dash because its adhesive pad failed in the sun, I also haven’t figured out how to change the readout from KM to MPH. Backup camera resolution matches the screen well but the cable is barely (and I mean barely) long enough for a regular cab with an 8’ bed or an extra cab with a short bed. Bluetooth works flawlessly with my older IPhone but when using the CarPlay screen it seems to override other apps. It cuts off the FM radio when my phone connects. My biggest complaint (which might be a deal breaker) is the mic on the unit. It’s inconsistent and every call made in the truck gets me complaints from the person on the other end of the call. I’m hoping I will find a setting to adjust this somehow because the hands free was a major reason for installing this unit. I’ll update this review if I solve this issue. For now though, this thing is great… except for the calls. The factory settings access code is 000000, there’s a lot going on in there so be careful.
