Got this to help with the hot Texas summers to cool the car seat in my husband's truck which has a fully glass roof. I was hoping this would stay cold long enough to keep the seat chilled while going to events or even just running errands. The need to fill and freeze individual icepacks is good and bad. You have the flexibility to fit ice packs in your freezer much more than the whole insert, which I have encountered in the past. However, I feel like the gel icepacks would have stayed cold longer for such uses. fortunately, we do have a cooler we keep in the truck so we can pull these from the freezer and keep them in the cooler until we get to our destination and put the insert in the car seat. If you don't have a cooler though, you are going to lose some of that chill pretty quickly before you even get where you are going.
