So disappointed I've only just discovered (outside the return window) that this does not fit my 849 Mechanical pencil. It claims to be 40mm long by 40mm wide! I don't think so! I assume that's 4mm wide and it looks like my pencil needs 4.5mm. This certainly wobbles about and gets stuck if you try to use it in situ as I did successfully with that supplied with the pencil.

Meine Druckbleistifte sind mehr als 5 Jahre alt und die Radiergummis mit Halterung sind etwas dicker als diese Version, die keinen richtigen Halt findet.

Bought for my 849 Caran d'ache pencil, didn't fit. Foolishly bought another, just to make sure. Neither fit my pencil. Don't bother with this product

Shame on me for thinking it was more than one.Yes, I got what I ordered. Yes, I should have read more carefully.Yes, it comes from Europe. Yes it works perfectlyBut seven and a half bucks for a replacement eraser?

Sadly, this eraser looks just like what it's replacing but is in reality too small and slides down into the lead chamber. I only received one and it was so bundled in tape and bubble wrap that I almost couldn't get it out without damaging it. Wish there was a realistic option to replace the eraser.

This eraser is for the Caran d'Ache Fixpencil 844. There is a small eraser under the top button of the Fixpencil 844. The top button simply pulls off to reveal the eraser and extra leads that reside in the reservoir under the button. The eraser under the top button measures around 4.5mm in diameter with about 10mm of useable, progressive length. The moveable eraser sleeve allows for the eraser to be extended upward toward the top button as the eraser wears down. A long needle comes with the eraser for clearing lead jams that are a rare occurrence in the Fixpencil 844. Because the lead advance mechanism requires more than normal force to activate it, you can remove the top button, use the eraser and replace the button without accidentally advancing the lead, a very useful feature of the artfully crafted and affordably priced Caran d'Ache Fixpencil 844.The Caran d'Ache Fixpencil 844 serves well as an artist's sketch pencil for light rendering and relatively thin line drawing. Along with two of the 844s .7mm, I have two 2mm Caran d'Ache Fixpencils that are also moderately priced. The Fixpencil 844 is perhaps better suited to a less broad hand as the 844 is shorter than some other mechanical pencils. Fixpencils are near the width of a common wood pencil. For art drawing, the advantage of the 844 mechanical pencil over pencils made of wood is that there is less line width variation due to the relatively consistent width of the lead throughout its' length compared with the conical shape of wood pencil lead that starts at a point and progressively widens until the pencil is again sharpened back to a point. The Fixpencil 844 comes in widths .5mm and .7mm meaning you have to purchase two separate 844s, one in each size to handle those two different lead widths. The 2mm Fixpencil works with a lead width of 2.0mm, but the shape of the 2mm lead is conical that means losing the advantage of the narrower lead widths for more consistent line width drawing.

It's not specifically designed for Caran D'ache mechanical pencils as advertised. The eraser is too thin and slides down the barrel. Don't waste your money.

The product is fine. But, frankly, 2 itty bitty little erasers is crazy. The product description was accurate so I don't know why I was surprised when I opened a large package and found so little. But, if the pencil took a generic eraser, for the same amount of money I would have gotten 20 pieces instead of 2.
