Runs like a charm; excellent fit; near identical replacement. Don’t hesitate to purchase if you have a Tohatsu 8hp MFS8A3 outboard.

For being 1/3 the cost of OEM I didn't expect much but this carb works very well. Only slight adjustments needed to be made and the engine ran with the carb right out of the box. MY 2016 Tohatsu 9.8 didn't have the enrichment circut like this replacement but it works just fine. At least ln my motor I eliminated the plastic spacer to avoid needing to purchase a new gasket, which was stuck to my old carb. the single gasket on the intake right to the carb worked out perfectly for me.

Perfect replacement! Everything matched up and it works great! Just had to adjust the idle screw.. Very satisfied.

This carb is not jetted properly for Tohatsu 9.8, it’s way too rich. The motor loaded up badly and blew black smoke. Plugs were badly carbon fouled.

This was a perfect replacement for my Tohatsu 9.8 A3 with one exception. I noticed the choke lever had less travel than with the original carb, but didn't think anything of it. Flash forward quite a few minutes of trying to start and I realize when tightened the carb down again the choke lever had no movement this time. The diameter butterfly is slightly larger than original and it was hitting and binding on the original plastic gasket on the air box side. I used a Dremel tool to enlarge the opening and the choke now worked fine. Still might take some adjustments, but in my humble opinion this was still a much easier option than rebuilding the original carb that started leaking fuel and was always kind if finicky to begin with. The job should take less than 30 minutes knowing about the diameter issue.
