The kit was nearly unusable. It had needles and seats with metric 8x1.0 thread instead of the correct 5/16x24 SAE thread. I had to take the correct parts out of a new carburator to complete the rebuild.

I needed to clean out a used Edelbrock 1405 that has been sitting on my shelf for 13 years or so. I tore it down last night and soaked it. I needed to get the carburator up and ready to install today. The kit is not correct for the 1405 I have. the list of issues are as follows:The cover gasket is not properly cut to clear part of the cover casting. I took my hobby knife and cut out the area needed for clearance. The needle valve seats would not screw into the body. The locked up after a few turns and could not be screwed in further without possible damage to the cover and they are not machined for the inlet filter screens. Fortunately I was able to reuse my original seats and the needle valves from the kit. I decided against using the floats in the kit since they were slightly different in shape and the pivot bracket wasn't the nicest. I installed the accelerator pump and found that the linkage would not fit into the rod. I'm glad it didn't for when I pulled the cover back off I found the pump piston was too small in diameter to work. I also had to trim the gasket for the accelerator nozzle as the one in the kit was too large to work as it came. Next time I'll buy a genuine Edelbrock kit. i would recommend staying clear of this product.

This kit was ok to use as a quick fix but I wouldn’t recommend for a long term fix. Some of the parts didn’t seem to fit as well as they should have if it was a kit from elderbrock.

I have a # 9500 Carter AFB Carb. I bought this to use as a spare if ever needed . Parts and gaskets look to be good and well made . I have not used it yet . BH

middle carb gasket did not fit my edelbrock 1406 carb otherwise everything seemed alright

great product! I had to cut two of the gasket holes a little bigger to get it to fit just right, but otherwise it's a great value for the price. the new floats are significantly lower quality (they didn't drill a pressure relief hole so they collapsed just a bit when being brazed) but have the correct mounting setup and work just fine. I would definitely check for leaks due to the quality concerns though. there are also some other slight size differences on some of the brass parts, but the important dimensions are correct, so not a problem.

this will get the job done, but almost nothing fit properly. It was a good thing that I had spare parts, and patience, or this carb might not have worked.
