As you cut cardboard the blade will bend and slowly give you curved pieces of cardboard, making it harder for each piece to be straight. The "protection sleeve" doesn't actually fit so it awkwardly sits on the tip of the blade. You need to tighten the nut every few strips of cardboard, it comes loose quickly. This is harder to force through cardboard than it looks, especially when you're maneuvering an awkward box that will bend and break. I wish I got an electric box cutter instead. This can probably be used to score cardboard with the blade before cutting with scissors. That would work.

Feels well made. The wood is solid wood. Its a helpful tool if you want to make your own scratchers. We have tons of cardboard, this gives some of it a new life. Pretty simple to use. Cuts decently well.

This cardboard cutter is excellent. It is so much safer and easier than a cardboard knife or scissors. I find that pressing my fingers against the cardboard beneath the wood to guide the box while I pull back on the cutter helps to cut a straighter line. This was very easy and fast to cut an entire box within about 2-3 minutes. If you have the time, this cutter is a must have for all parents with kitties who love their cardboard scratchers. My only critique is that I wish the brown that it came in was a bit bigger so that I can store the cutter with the blade on. It came with a blade protector but I'm not confident that the protector will stay on (though it is a snug fitting protector) when placed in my toolbox. Excellent design.

Great way to use up all the cardboard you get with Amazon deliveries :) Sure, you could use a regular box cutter to slice up corrugated cardboard, but this little doo-dad is much quicker and easier. Each strip comes out the same width every time. This cutter is easy to hold and replacing the blade when it dulls is simple. There's no safety guard for when using this cutter and the plastic blade cover for when this is not in use slips off very easily. It's NOT something for younger kids to try using or to leave out around little ones (or big ones, or klutzy or inebriated adults....). The blade position is such that you need to use some kind of cutting board underneath the cardboard to protect your table, counter, floor, or wherever you decide to slice up some strips. We have three cats and are about to adopt two more. Our current three claw through cardboard cat scratchers with speed, and that will only get faster (and more expensive) with two more. Premade scratchers can be crazy expensive depending on where you buy, the shape of the scratcher, and if it includes refills. At least with this gadget you can make your own refills eve if you have to buy an empty packing box at from the orange or blue big box hardware stores for a dollar. That's still a heck of a lot cheaper than buying pre-made refill after refill! (Cardboard is compostable as long as it's not waxed or has a plastic coating (think to-go cups, tetra packaging like cartons of orange juice) and all tape and labels have been removed. If you compost, let your cat(s) do the work of tearing into shreds. Or once the cats have sufficiently destroyed their scratcher, the used cardboard strips can also be recycled if you don't compost. Or use the old strips to start a fire in your fire pit, fireplace, or charcoal grill.)

This is a handy little tool. We go through a lot of cat scratchers, which can get expensive. It seems silly to spend money on cardboard scratchers just for our cats to destroy. Especially since we have more boxes than we know what to do with! So when we saw this tool, we knew we could put it to good use.It is very well constructed. It is designed to fit comfortably in your hand and allows you to make straight cuts. It was simple to put together and is easy to use. The set even came with multiple replacement blades that should last for quite some time. If you have a stack of boxes and cats that like to scratch anything and everything, you should definitely get one of these!

This tool is great for getting a uniform cut but the blades are dull and it takes a lot of strength to cut through cardboard. I had a couple of strong men try it out and they gave up after two strips. The consensus was that scratchers are not costly enough to justify the toil required to use this tool. This review is for the product listed as, “FIYEMNI Cardboard Cutter for Cat Scratchers, Used to Cut 1.6" Wide Cardboard Strips, Corrugated Board Strip Cutter Tool, Wooden Handle, 10 Blades Included."

This cutter is very nicely made out of hard wood. It is smoothly finished and the joinery is very well done. It comes with a lot of blades, a blade guard, and a the necessary hardware to secure the blade. It's functions are somewhat limited, but if you can use it, it is a safer alternative to a box knife.

If you have a cat that uses the cardboard scratchers; this is a good way to more or less refill that without having to just buy another one and if you're anything like we are, then you'll have amazon boxes filling your garage, which gives you plenty of material to work with. This is a super easy tool to use, you can see how easy in the video they provided in the advertisement. You just line the cardboard up and run the tool down the side and rinse and repeat; the only hard part about it will be finding the container to put them all in but you can use just about anything.
