Kept getting air into my system a problem I didn't have before replacing this box. Box came in looking like it came straight from a junkyard and not a remanufactured steering box. If you want to do the job right the first time order a Redhead steering box and forget about these cheep things.

I had a leaking gear box and this one is now installed and working great. I changed out the pump and hoses as well.

The item is not clearly defined as to what it fits. I am a mechanic with over 40 years experience and I must have made a mistake when choosing which part fits my 78 cj7. I'm not happy about my choice but it was my choice. It ended up being different in two ways (3 mounting points as opposed to 4) and (input shaft is smaller). Hopefully in the future, items can be described as to what model they fit, and important specifications stated, otherwise I won't be buying. David Allen

THIS POWER STEERING GEAR IS WORSE THAN MY OLD ONE, IT HAS MORE PLAY THAN MY OLD ONE, AND THAT WAS THE ONLY REASON WHY I WAS REPLACING IT. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY, TIME, LABOR, AND I ENDED UP WITH SOMETHING WORST THAN I'VE EXCHANGE FOR.

I got an alignment recently and they said I had some play in the steering. So I thought when I got a chance I would change this. So I saw this on amazon for cheap. and a mail in rebate for more than the purchase price. Well lets try this.So the part. Fixed the slop in the steering and install was complicated by the fact that the shaft wasn't covered during shipping so After I put everything back in I couldn't get the joint on, so I had to remove it use a small file and fix the dogged up end. after that all is good.Installed 3 weeks ago and got the rebate already.Total price is + $20 and it works great. That's why I gave it 5 stars.
