I replaced the axles on my 2007 Subaru Outback project car because the boots had split open and spewed grease everywhere. I don't drive this car on the highway, or very much at all, so I can't attest to how they perform long term or above 50mph. But for me, they work fine.

Update not even a year bought august last year boots ripped and clamps are loose. Grease everywhere!Do not buy!!!!!!!!The communication was bad only shipped one out of two axles. Got the second one weeks later. Have bad vibration at idle in gear now that I changed them and vibration at around 100km. They are the typical you get what you pay for so they will do while i rebuild my factory green shafts.

I have two of these axles on my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT. At least for me, they are as good as the ones that came on the car. One has 110.000 miles on it, and the other was replaced at 90,000 miles...because I ran over some barbed wire which wrapped itself around the rubber boot and destroyed it. I just replaced that axle with another of the same model and I don't expect a problem from it.I have found that a huge reason that these, or any CV axle assembly, fails, is how it is handled during unboxing and installation. Know what you're doing, have a plan in place for getting the axle in position, inserted into the transmission, and supporting the outboard end until it's in the hub assembly. If you mess around with the axle, let it dangle, over-extend, lock out, or disengage and twist it getting it back in position, you probably will shorten its life. And I have seen people use the outboard portion of the axle as a "slide hammer" to drive the axle into place in the transaxle! This will damage the part! But this holds true for OEM parts as well.As to rebuilding the OEM parts -- I just don't think it makes economic sense. If you consider the time do disassemble the axle, clean it, re-pack it, and install the new boot, your labor cost is more than the cost of a new OEM axle. And the vehicle is taking up space in your shop because it's not really practical to move the vehicle until the axle is reinstalled. Now if you are a DIYer working on your own time and like to tinker, by all means rebuild your axles.

It fit perfectly. It looked great. It vibrated over 60mph and rumbled under 30 mph. Used it for a month and bought both boot kits and repaired my OEM axle. Much quieter and smother operating. Just checked on returning it today and don't you know, the return date has passed. Now I'm stuck with this piece of junk. Never again. Reboot and grease your OEM axles or buy rebuilt OEM axles. You're better off. If your mechanic wants to install these 'new' China made axles, tell him no thanks. You don't want to replace the original equipment with this trash. You'll be replacing it again, soon.
