Received pump and it was well packaged(double boxed and bubble wrapped.) At first look it appeared to be an exact replacement, but I had trouble getting mounting bracket to line up with bolt holes but it did. Then the rear mounting spot did NOT come with nut to pinch the bracket(Removed off of old pump.) Great, so mounted into vehicle installed pulley with pulley installer and flushed system and man is this pump NOISY. It also seems to struggle with creating enough pressure just sitting there causing the pressure line to vibrate quite a lot and will probably cause it to eventually break(Metal ends with rubber in middle.) Did multiple left to right cycles to purge air from the system and it still doesn't quiet down. Only thing better is the dipstick seals better than my old pump (NOT worth $130 for that)

I installed the power steering pump and it squeals everytime the steering wheel is turned left or right. The fluid is up to level

Liked the metal reservoir / make sure the backet fits around it loosely before you tighten it. some have a extra angle in the bend.

1972 F100 390 FE - Tried to rebuild the original but was the original was too worn out. Rebuilding the original is a difficult project and while the unit did not leak anymore, the pressure was about 7/10. After installing this Cardone unit, the steering with stock suspension moves with a single finger on the wheel.Install Process:1. Loosen Low Pressure return line (rubber hose on back 90deg) and pull off. Use a tupperware or similar container as this will spill out (mostly from the pump side. About 1/2 quart will come out.2. Remove high pressure hose (no pressure in it when not running) with a 3/4" wrench or crescent wrench.3. Elevate both hoses so that fluid does not continue to drip.4. Loosen three top mounting nuts and then loosen side tension nut until you can remove the belt.5. Finish removing top nuts and remove the entire pump and bracket.6. On a bench or vise, you will have to remove the stock pulley. If you have not done this before, you WILL need a tool. (Amazon product "OEMTOOLS 27031 Pulley Puller/Installer") or you can borrow one from a local parts store.7. Once the pulley is off, just remove the 3 front bolts, and loosen the rear nut and the bracket can be transferred to the Cardone part.8. After mounting the bracket back on, then install the factory pulley back on to the new pump. Kit has the part you need. (Thread the long bolt into the pump's shaft, and then back the collar down with two wrenches until the front of the pulley is flush with the tip of the shaft. Do not push the pulley too far and DO NOT HAMMER IT ON).9. Now reinstall in the vehicle. Attach the high and low pressure hoses. Retension the belt.10. To FLUSH, Remove low pressure hose and put that hose in a 2 quart bottle. Plug the return 90deg fitting on the pump. Add about 2/3rds of a quart of Type F ATF fluid (Ford uses ATF fluid in the power steering). Then unplug your coil and have a friend turn the key for 1 sec at a time to have the starter push the fluid out of the system. Add more ATF, cycle starter, and once you get 2 quarts thru the system, it is flushed.11. Now with about 2/3rd of a quart in the new pump. Lift the front of the vehicle off the ground. Use jack stands under each side to support the wheels slightly off the ground.12. Start the vehicle and let it get up to temp for 5 mins.13. Be sure the dipstick is securely in the pump. Turn the steering from lock to lock, moderate speed, 3 or 4 times to remove any remaining air in the lines.14. Check the level of fluid on the dipstick and you are good to go.Pros:Silent operationHigh Pressure with great steeringEasy install and factory bolts/brackets fitting perfectly.Cons:Silver/unpainted does not match factory black (just paint it)Dipstick is REALLY difficult to remove. (this is good thou)Thanks for reading, hope this helps.
