I recently read that you can make your own seedling germination mix by simply sifting potting soil. So I got this. I've attached a picture of the original potting mix I was using, and the soil sifted through this fine mesh. It's perfect for germinating seeds!

I used this mesh to make bottom boards and divider boards for my beehives. It's easy to cut and provides the right size fir good ventilation while preventing the bees from crossing. It's also quality stainless which is requited5due to the acidic nature of honey. Aluminum would corrode. Great mesh for beehive woodenware.

I needed to screen the input to an "effluent pump" I'd purchased to remove water that floods our side yard when it rains very hard. The pump is rated to handle 2" "solids", but, in fact, if a 3/16" pebble or piece of hickory nut shell gets between the impeller blade and the housing, it can jam the pump. (Usually the hickory nut shell "bits" break, the pebbles, not so much.) The pump itself can push out ~10,000 GPH at this (under 3') discharge height, so water currents coming in to and in the pit are pretty strong and can lift small pebbles.The bottom of the pump just fits into a 5 gallon bucket, so, I cut 4 large rectangular holes into the sides of the bucket and screwed pieces of this mesh over the holes. Voila, I now have a large strainer! Water can also flow in unfiltered over the top of the bucket, but my hope is that it won't be a problem: If it is, I'll screen that off too. (More of a pain!)I only drew blood once in this project. The cut edges of the mesh ARE sharp.I had to use a new aviation snips to cut this mesh. An old one that is slightly "loose" may not cut it (so to speak.)Our water table is quite high several months a year, so, between that and heavy rains, the screens may be in and out of water often. 304 SS is not quite as corrosion resistant as 316 SS, so, we'll see how this holds up. If it's true 304 SS, it should last a few years, I think...

I used this for critter screening of some sheds that had some places large enough for some to enter. It cuts easily and is tough enough to keep the critters out. Best of all, it should last for a very long time. Great sturdy mesh!
