Good product, quality build, and great price.

These poles have been great. They came in fine shape, but I had an issue with them, and customer service promptly solved that issue. I got these to easy impact abuse on my knees, but these have also had the benefit of increasing my casual walking speed, and improving my posture. Heavily recommend getting these before you need them! Watch some videos on proper usage, the say more than the instructions (especially with how to use the wrist strap in a non intuitive, but highly helpful way), and how to use these to push forward more than straight down against the ground. These have greatly improved the quality of my city park walks. They have every indication the will serve me phenomenally in the mountains too.

I purchased these over the winter, and taken the time to put them through the wringer. 5 hikes in south west alberta, a few casual cross country skiing trips; I feel confident enough to say I am purchasing a second pair for my wife.I won't go into why you should own poles, but I wasn't a fan of the idea until I lost 5 toe nails after completing a 50KM ultra marathon with significant elevation changes. All of the other runners were using poles and I decided after years of hiking and even more off trail solo adventures it was time to see what all of the fuss was about.These are reasonably priced and similar weight to some of the most expensive brands on the market, coming with an assortment of ends.My poles have been used in the flats of Saskatchewan and the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. These poles have supported my 175 lbs frame running down slopes and resisted breaking after poor placement and getting stuck while running.Simple to set up and take down, these poles are worth the cost, if you're like me an skeptical about trying poles; try these you won't regret it.

I bought these for a trip to AZ in March and used them for the 2 weeks we were there. I really liked them -- easy to assemble, light weight, packed well for travelHowever, they did not last -- I just used them again for the first time since March and one is already broken. There is a plastic piece inside of the pole sections that locks them into place and one fell apart. Poles are useless now.

It was already broken when I received.I was disappointed with this purchase.

Good product for beginners who want to have a gear that is not too expensive but functions reasonably well.

I'm an avid hiker, never used trekking poles before. An upcoming trip on steep, muddy terrain seemed like the reason to buy them. I like quality gear, I hate paying for something overengineered for my needs. These poles hit the right price point and features (collapsible for travel, adjustable height for different people/needs, multiple attachments, cork grips).After a few hikes trying them out, one pole developed an annoying squeeking sound. A quick e-mail to the company and a human responded. They quickly sent out a replacement section. Problem solved. About the best customer service I have ever experienced.The poles are great. Not the lightest, not the quickest to deploy, but a quality product with great features backed by a company that cares. I'll recommend to other people.

These trekking poles are wobbly because pole sections do not lock! I tried turning each section in the direction indicated by the arrow to lock it but the interlocking sections still come apart. A couple of reviewers mentioned the same problem. There are 4 interlocking points and I'm unable to lock ANY of them.One of the reviewers mentioned something about messing with the screwy bit (can't remember his exact words) to "get it started." Not sure what he means by that, but I did tinker with the interlocking ends for quite a bit but was never able to get the sections to lock. These SHOULD work right out of the box. They SHOULD twist to lock, as advertised, RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.If they don't work right out of the box, well, that's just unacceptable. Now, I have to pack these back in the box and return them for a refund.I make no apologies for giving Cascade Mountain Tech 1 star for their product. That's all I have to say.

To date I have a total of about 60 miles over 5 outings on these poles so the verdict is still out on longevity, and I will update this review accordingly. That said, I feel comfortable in taking a position on these as a result of my experiences this far.I was originally looking at the flick-lock Carbon poles from Cascade, but upon discovering this new product offering, I purchased these since I heavily prefer the folding design as a result of deep-seeded distrust of the flick-lock system. Even though it may be an irrational fear, I have taken a fall due to equipment failure in the past and would prefer not to do it again. Although these do have an upper section which is flick-lock for adjustability, even if that were to fail it would only compress a small amount, likely not enough to cause a fall. In the context I love this feature, as it allows me to adjust the height easily, with the added security of the folding design preventing a lock failure from causing a collapse. While mentioning this though I would be remised if I did not mention that these poles at their shortest setting may be a touch long for shorter hikers (44”). I am about 5’9”/5’10” depending on the day of the week, and even at their shortest length they are nearly long enough for me. I usually only extend them an additional 1”-1.5” which fits me perfectly for most terrain. Having this adjustability combined with the peace of mind that comes with folding poles makes these an ideal fit.Being that they are folding poles, they do not collapse and strap to my pack quite as quickly or easily as fully collapsible poles, but this comes with the territory of folding poles and a concession I am happy to make. The carrying case provided is sturdy and feels very durable. During a heavy rain summiting peaks at night in western North Carolina, the bag was strapped on the outside of my pack and did not retain much water. Even though it was raining very hard and persistently (it was a long night) the inside of the bag was mostly dry upon opening it. The poles remained tactile and allowed a good purchase on the cork handles even in heavy rain with soaked gloves.The Cascade Mountain Tech Carbon Fiber Folding Trekking Poles do not have a shock absorbing system, but do have a moderate amount of flex, although I never questioned their stability.The only issue I have had was with the locking mechanism. The connections rely on a plastic nut sliding up and over inclines when screwed together to create tension on the outer pole section. One of the connections on my original pole would not lock together. At first I assumed I had a faulty mechanism on that connection, though they do have a snug fit and the elastic tension holding it in place pretty well. I hiked many miles with this being the case and experienced no separation, but when I got around to it I contacted the manufacture and they promptly sent me out a replacement pole section with no hassle at all. High praise to the customer service team over at Cascade Mountain Tech. To my surprise though, the replacement pole section I was sent did the exact same thing, so I thought to myself that there is no way I am this unlucky. Upon investigating a little bit further, I found that that small plastic nut was not catching on the threads and was free floating. The fix was as simple as just getting the nut started on the threads. When I then pushed the poles together it locked tight just as expected. This is not really a problem, as it is not due to any defect, but is worth noting. I went back and saw that the same thing had happened to several other reviewers who, like I, thought they received a defective product. I would not really say this is a problem that should be addressed in manufacturing, but may be a good idea to include a footnote about it in the documentation that accompanies these poles.Both poles together come in at under a pound. When you receive them there are 3 different feet included which are a great addition, though I rarely use anything other than the carbide tip itself. As you would expect snow baskets are also included, and the plastic of the snow baskets and smaller baskets both feel very durable and well made. I have used these in heavy mud, and it protected well against over-penetration under load.This is a newer company, at least to me, and thus far I have been impressed with the quality of the product ad will check out more of their products in the future. I would not hesitate to recommend these poles to anyone looking for a high quality product at an outstanding value.
