UPDATE JAN 23, 2024. After reaching out to Amazon, seller responded within 24 hours. Sent a replacement unit which was received within days. So far, so good. Charging successful. Impressed with seller's quick response and attempt to make good. Changing my rating to 5 STARS!!! Thank you! Not often that a seller is motivated to make customer/buyer happy. Awesome.DISAPPOINTED. I purchased this item 06-27-2023. Pricey compared to other similar items, but the charging while using feature appealed to me. Worked well until recently. Now working intermittently, interrupts every 15-20 seconds with message "low battery". Even after charging with USB cord supplied - in the vehicle and also on my office, still continues to say "low battery" Defective battery after only 6 months? Also, no window or light on unit to tell me charging status. Not sure if the USB cord supplied with purchase is defective, or the battery in the unit itself. I have tried many different BT cassette adapters for my 2002 Landcruiser. The ones that requiring charging after 8-12 hours seem to work best, will probably purchase a couple more of those to swap out as needed. Amazon sent a message to seller for me today 01-13-2024. Seller replied in CHINESE ... I do not read or understand ... need ENGLISH, please!

We love our adapter!! We used to have the kind that you had to take out of the tape player to plug in to charge. It was inconvenient and how many times did I leave the house without it?! OR it was left in the car with a dead battery. When you want to play your tunes or listen to your podcast and audiobooks, you WANT to listen when you want to listen! This device is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The play while you charge feature is the best feature!! But you also won't be disappointed with the product's functionality as well. My spotify, audiobooks and podcasts sound great over my in-car speakers.Of course, it's not perfect, and here are a few nits...If you're sensitive to hearing the clicking of your tape player playing in the background, you may not like this device. I will say that you hear the clicking when you first turn it on but eventually you either tune it out or it gets softer. Haven't figured it out yet. It doesn't bug me or my kids.OH! Did I mention I have 3 teenage kids who on car rides want to hear their playlists and we have an old car so this really helped us out.Last... the device did eject itself right away when I first got it. It did it a couple of times, but I spun the gears a couple of times and put it back in ... Voila! It stayed in; I was able to connect bluetooth and play my tunes.Bluetooth connecting... was pretty straightforward. My entire family has been able to connect without a problem. The only problem we had was if the last person connected is in the car with you, the device will automatically connect to that person. Make sure everyone turns off their bluetooth to allow for the 1 person to connect to the device. That's my review... we love it. it has some minor imperfections, but it is what it is. AND it's great!

My car is old and has a tape deck. This bluetooth unit allows me to listen to music from my phone over the speakers without plugging the phone in. You can charge the bluetooth adapter while using it, which you can't do on a lot of the other units on Amazon. I leave the unit plugged into my usb charger all the time. The only issue that I've seen is that when it connects to my phone it goes to max volume which red lines the sound. The simple fix is to lower the volume on the phone. I'm not sure if that is the adapter's fault or the Android OS. I wouldn't mark it down for that.

I wrote an extensive review for this product when it was being marketed as the "Heibeige . . . iTape" Bluetooth receiver. I have been using that unit for about one year now. It continues to function well, except that the battery in it is no longer charging to full or even to a useable and worthwhile degree. This was all part of a project to upgrade my 1995 Isuzu digital radio to the 21st century. My vehicle currently has two Bluetooth receivers: the iTape in the cassette player, and an MP3 player which transmits its signal to the digital FM receiver using a blank or unused frequency. They both offer the best sound MP3 files can deliver through the Isuzu receiver and the Polk Audio speaker upgrades. The units both have well-hidden USB cables routed to a USB rocker switch-controlled charger like this one: USB QC [Quick-Charge] Charging Adapter -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L2M8H4Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1The Adapter is wired to another illuminated rocker switch positioned right next to it on the dashboard. I can either run my dash-mounted Android tablet and the iTape cassette adapter on their batteries, or I can simultaneously charge them while they're in use. The iTape continues to function well as long as the USB charger is providing power, and it seems to continue functioning after the charger has been turned off. But I can no longer get the iTape to start properly while running on the battery alone. So, to this end, I bought another iTape adapter as backup. I may decide to disassemble the existing unit to see if the battery can be replaced. Or -- somebody who also bought one or (better) a tech-rep from the manufacturer can provide some guidance. Of course, if the dissection of the iTape ends with its destruction, I'll want to use this replacement unit.Despite these observations, I conclude that this is probably one of the best alternatives for modernizing your old car stereo by forcing the cassette player to work for you in passing sound through your receiver and speakers. You could also get one of the simpler models that uses a 3.5mm phone jack for connection to your tablet, phone, MP3 player or similar device. But you then have the "dangling cable on the dashboard" problem. If you pick a Bluetooth unit that cannot be charged while in use, there are no cables to manage. If the iTape needs to be powered or recharged, then you have to manage that single USB cable. It is slim and flexible enough so that it can be made invisible without dangling it on your dashboard. The other "cable" is a six-inch length that connects the iTape's "+", "-" and [pause/on/off] switches, and it is also the location for the unit's microphone, which you will want to have working for voice-recognition (off voice-navigation and other phone or tablet features). But if you want to attach the little dongle switch tootsie-roll to your dashboard with two-sided foam tape, the tape will muffle the microphone and make you almost scream at it when telling Google Maps your vehicle's next destination.Whatever the drawbacks, buying a product like this is much easier than removing your digital radio, opening it up and wiring a USB Bluetooth dongle to your radio's internal circuits. And the sound quality, assuming you've degaussed your cassette tape heads, is every bit as good as the hard-wired dongle would provide.UPDATE -- A YEAR LATER -- March 2023: As I said elsewhere, this was the third i-Tape that I purchased. The first one stopped charging the battery, and needed to be plugged into the USB port to function. The second unit was DOA, and I had remarked about manufacturer quality control. The third unit continues to function perfectly. I make a point of charging it, disconnecting it from USB to run down the charge to 50%, and then switching it back on to recharge. If I didn't prefer continuing to use the 12-CD changer that came with the vehicle, I wouldn't need to keep the OEM digital receiver, and I wouldn't need the i-Tape. Nowadays, you only need to replace your digital receiver with a unit that provides MP3-play through USB. But the old Trooper is a "special needs" vehicle, and this i-Tape works marvelously. Tip: When you first turn it on, adjust the source volume initially, or the sound might be too loud -- a minor step after you start your vehicle to back it out of the garage.
