You can tell that the wood was intentionally sourced, beautifully finished, and much sturdier than typical metal framed window perches. The size may be a factor for those with larger cats, however, my cat immediately took to this perch, and there is plenty of space for him to lounge, move around, and get comfortable.I was initially a tad confused as the instructions did not indicate submerging the suction cups in hot water for five minutes, however, upon affixing the ledge to the window, I immediately understood why. These suction cups are properly concave, and decently thick, ensuring, immediate and firm adhesion to the glass surface. This window perch took perhaps five minutes to assemble, although I did use an electric screwdriver that I already had, despite a handy tool provided with the installation kit hardware. On that note, the extra hardware provided was a lifesaver, as I accidentally stripped one of the screws during install.I love that this ledge is foldable, so you can fold it up in the evenings or during the day if you would like to draw your curtains or lower your shades. Meaning that this works flawlessly with whatever your window dressing situation is.Also the white faux rabbit fur is a delightful touch, really adding to the appeal both visually, and for my cat’s comfort. The best part is that it easily unwraps from the frame, and is attached by tension, when hooking the thick Velcro ends together.

It took a week for my cat to finally use it but I'm happy to see her using it in a big bay window. With a house full of windows, you are going to have multiple mounting options, so the idea of giving the cats a nice new vantage point and another location where it's sunny presented itself tempting.I'm a handy guy and I went around trying to find a good mounting location and I found three locations to try.the first location was on glass French doors with the blinds inside the glass but I could never get the cats to go from the couch to the Shelf I didn't think they liked the idea of a door being a place to rest.and second I moved it to the dining room front window that has shutters but with the Shelf folded up the shutters fully closed which was perfect and what you want, but the only place to put it is on the lower window so you open the window for fresh air. My cat jumped into it and her weight made the window go down like an elevator. So it closes your window and that's no good.so third location is a big picture window in the front where the cats are normally resting. I put it up on that window, but now it impedes the blinds from going all the way down.So you need to have a window that isn't going to have blinds, and a window that doesn't move, so only fixed windows.and when you have it in the down position it does protrude so we have to choose where it's going to be pretty wisely. And then the fold-up position if you can get your window treatments closed for privacy,I say "good luck" that's the hardest part. It's not a total lost cause because I could substitute the suction cups for hard Mount to studs on a wall so it could extend the sleeping Arrangements in a cat-centric house without using the window, but then it defeats the purpose of the view.So the hardest part is getting a new Contraption to agree with your existing house especially with windows that already have blinds and shutters. Be happy if you have curtains, then you would just spread them and it always stay wide that's probably the most forgiving window treatment to have...so I say get this if you have curtains don't get this if you have blinds. No complaints on the build or design. it's just now obvious to me now that it's hard to find a lot of locations where the cat shelf fits the bill without a compromise to your view and privacy.

This Cat Window Perch arrived quickly and exactly meets the description on the Amazon store. It was securely packaged and had all the pieces required.Initially, I didn't want to order this perch because I was worried that it wouldn't be strong enough to hold and not fall down. I didn't want my two cats to be in danger of getting hurt, but the suction cups hold well. The description says the perch is designed to hold up to 50 pounds. It's only big enough for one cat at a time unless you have two smaller cats. But my one cat loves to look outside the window, and it's perfect for her.The hammock/perch is foldable and measures 20.47” x 14.96” x 17.32”. It has a wooden frame, but the perch itself is soft and inviting. The pine wood frame is sturdy and supported by suction cups. It doesn't require any drilling, but it does require assembly.Historically, I'm not very good at assembly, but I put this perch together all by myself. A little tool is provided to make it easy to assemble. The proof was in the cat testing. Both of my cats tried it out, but one of my cats has claimed it and loves to look out the window or nap.Curtains will close over it, but not flush blinds. I mostly have accordion style blinds or wooden shutters in my house. I have one window where I was able to just open one side of the wooden shutters in my kitchen. I had my husband help me install it there. It worked fine. But consider this before ordering.I didn't want to install it in a window with the blinds. That would have made it more difficult. I think the price is okay for what you get.I am very pleased with this cat perch and so is my cat. 5+ stars.
