This trocar is well constructed of stainless steel and plastic. It is stored with the trocar and cannula nested together with a plastic shield covering the sharp point. The round plastic handle on the trocar is a good size for pushing with your hand and the point should be sharp enough to penetrate what it needs to, although a scalpel puncture in the skin makes placement much easier. The cannula is long enough to stay in place when the flange at its base, which has a hole on each side, is sutured to the skin.I have not had a chance to use this instrument yet because it's something you keep on hand for use in hopefully infrequent emergencies. I do know the features that are necessary to make it an easy to use, effective tool for relieving bloat not responsive to medical measures, and this tool has all those. I recommend this product.

We recently added this Cattle Trocar to our livestock emergency kit on the farm—a crucial tool that we hope never to use but understand its importance. This device is designed for situations like bloat, which we tragically experienced with a goat years ago. Having this tool now provides a sense of preparedness and reassurance. The trocar appears to be well-made and durable, suitable for use with our cattle and goats if ever needed. Including it in our emergency response equipment offers an additional layer of security for managing livestock health crises effectively.
