This is not a cubic boron nitride, it is diamond coated. The heading is a straight up lie.

Rarely in my experience has anything really been truly flat, round or even that is purported, or desired, to be. This wheel is no exception to that but it is good enough. Honestly, I may even venture to guess that this slight deviation is the norm unless you spend BIG dollars for the privilege. If you turn it by hand, you can see slight side to side movement but seems true on the flat (which one, to me, would negate the other; IOW, if there is side to side movement, then there has to be deviation on the flat, no?). I have a Tormek machine as well and it has the same issues but as with this, once the wheel is rolling it has no discernible effect on the functionality. So, I am going with this is a non issue but wanted to share the info. This particular one has diamond coating on the 1/4" side of the wheel. The coating is dense and well dispersed. There were two or three tiny spots that were a bit higher but they were gone after just the first use. I haven't noticed any immediate premature wearing and believe this will last a good while. I will update in the future with a report on the wear.

Works great, sharpens tools very quickly and doesn't remove extra metal so my tools will last a long time!

This grinding wheel comes with a 180-grit plated cubic boron nitride (CBN) flat surface. The machining on this 8" diameter 1" wide wheel is very good and runs true on the grinder. The 5/8" bore fit my 8" slow speed grinder and was easy to install. The 180-grit surface is uniform across most of the surface, but there are a few spots on just the very outer edge where it could be a little better. This grit level is good for initial sharpening or significant shaping for rougher ones of my woodturning tools. I have a 600-grit CBN wheel on the other side of my grinder for further sharpening, fine tuning, and for maintenance once during use. But this 180-grit wheel is absolutely necessary to get them to that point, and I am happy with its performance in that regard.
